Stage Reading of Nathan the WiseAdam Rovner
Friday, July 31, 2009 @ 2 PM

University of Colorado at Boulder
University Theatre

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival is hosting an exclusive staged reading of Ami Dayan's new musical adaptation (music by Sheldon Sands) of the classic masterpiece Nathan the Wise.  A beautiful meditation of overcoming prejudice between Christians, Jews and Muslims. This production is under consideration for presentation at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival in the near future so your feedback is important!

Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's 1779 masterpiece is one of the earliest works of literature celebrating religious tolerance. Telling the story of three characters bridging the gaps between Judaism, Islam and Christianity, it is a calling for peace.  This adaptation envisions the classic play as an exotic interfaith musical, set in Jerusalem during the third crusade.
