The Power
of Birth Art

Because Birth is a non-linear, right brain experience, it is difficult to fully prepare for or integrate this experience in the usual verbal, linear ways in which we tend to approach it!

Birth Art is the practice of shifting the consciousness into a receptive, non-linear space, and allowing non-verbal imagery to be revealed and expressed on paper.

This practice brings forth an exploration of the subconscious feelings and imagery that we carry about Birth.

Greetings!

Something happened to me today. A shift occurred that I think will be a lasting change. I rediscovered the joy of using cloth menstrual pads!

Here are five great reasons to consider using cloth for your MoonTime:

1) Cloth menstrual pads are fun looking, soft, feminine, and actually add enjoyment to the experience of your menses! While in contrast, your disposable pads or tampons can feel sterile and downright boring!

2) They are surprisingly comfortable and feel as though they disappear...truly! Most cloth menstrual pads are made from organic (or non-organic) cotton or cotton-flannel. They are OH SO super soft and really mold to the shape of your body so that you can feel completely comfortable wearing them all day.

3) They are good for the earth.Cloth menstrual pads are re-usable and (unlike cloth diapers) they don't require much water or effort to wash. Well made pads will last you for many years and they are always non-bleached and often made from organic/biodegradable materials.

4) They are good for your body. Even the best disposable menstrual pads have some glue or plastic element included on either the backing of the pad itself or in the packaging. Those which have plastic or glues on the pads themselves, decrease the body's ability to 'breathe'. As mentioned, many cloth pads are made with organic materials, but even those which are not, are always made with natural, soft fabrics which are non toxic and are breathable.

5) Using cloth pads will bring you into a more conscious, active, and positive relationship with your menses. You may even start calling it, your MoonTime! When women use cloth pads, they cannot help but be more aware of where the blood is actually going...whether it's into the washing machine, into the toilet, or...? Once this question arises some women begin to wonder if there is a better place to perhaps recycle the menstrual blood! Women who use cloth pads may become inspired to 'catch' their blood rather than dispose of it and begin using the sacred bloods of fertility to feed their house plants, gardens, or for use with art projects and personal rituals.

MoonTime can be more enjoyable, interesting, healthy, and ecologically responsible with the use of cloth menstrual pads! I believe this is one small step we as women can take toward reclaiming a positive relationship with this very important aspect of Womanhood.
