and let the spirits fly in and out..." ~ Rumi

Red Woman

Greetings!

We are a living in a world in transition. For those of you who have given birth naturally or witnessed a woman whom you love do so, you know the chaos that ensues just before the dawn of a new life. In birthing language, the transition is a time of great change, the moment of truth, and probably the greatest demonstration of female strength that there is.

We are moving into a new decade and we hope, a new way, a new era. This world is a woman in Transition. There is so much chaos in this world and each one of us reading this is supporting war and the destruction of our planet in at least some small way. We must acknowledge this, but still move forward toward positive change somehow.

I recently saw the movie Avatar and was emotionally stirred up for hours afterward. Although it was a high-tech, Hollywood movie which cost a zillion dollars to create, the message was heartfelt for me and had a lasting impact. This story of an indigenous culture being destroyed by greed and ignorance is true and happening right now as I sit here on my computer writing my thoughts. I feel responsible for this by not stopping it from happening. And I also 'remember' what it is like to live like them, the original ones. I feel that tremendous beauty, the profound connections, the magic, and wisdom within me.

The day after seeing this film I wondered, what can I do then? How do I really contribute to a better way for humankind?

My thoughts began at a global level and spiraled inward from there. I leaned in my thoughts, toward my own country first. I then thought, 'well, I really need to create positive change in my own community initially'. Spiraling further inward, I felt that the one thing I could surely do is create a positive impact on my own family. Until finally I realized that I need to just start with myself, and that actually, I am doing that already. But I need a bit more determination, courage, and clarity to feel that I am fueling a full on revolution!

Let this be a year of very personal and yet also collective risk taking for each and all of us. Let's challenge ourselves to face the winds of our own changes, and be the leaders of the revolution each of us must face individually. To authentically create a positive impact on a world in transition, let's BE (NOT DO) as the birthing women of the world ~ opening to massive changes, and surrendering to the moment of truth.

Female Embodiment Practice ~ feeling your Radiance, fueling your Fire!
Dance
Female Embodiment Practice  is based on the principles of yoga and traditional sacred dances, but is neither. This is a fluid, non-linear, introspective, interpersonal, transpersonal, and expressive practice based on feminine intuition. Through Female Embodiment Practice, we explore, express, and move with our emotions, soul stirrings, and inspirations. We open more fully to 'what is already there' through movement, sound, and awareness of body and breath.

This practice unfailingly increases the level of presence and radiance we have with ourselves, each other, and the truth of the moment because it is based on what is actually present in the room. Female Embodiment Practice is an incorporation of guided movements drawn from yoga and sacred dance, as well as self directed somatic exploration, vocalization, and dynamic prayer in motion.

Female Embodiment Practice is about taking the time to stop doing and simply BE, which is the true expression of feminine essence. During our practice we find that delicate balance between stillness and movement, and between the personal and the communal. We learn to move WITH life's pulse within, weather that be grief or joy.  We become a great radiance together.

If you love world music and dancing with your own inspiration; if you yearn to find that deep quiet space within, and to stretch and lengthen your limbs; if you love ritual, community, and woman-only time and space ~ this practice is for you!

An established relationship with your own intuition and previous body awareness experience is helpful to get the most out of this practice,
but all levels of experience are welcome!
