Breakfast of Champions Part II

Save the Date

Wild Turkey

Save the date for Breakfast of Champions Part II - Sat., June 30, 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Our first Breakfast of Champions was held in February. And although the weather wasn't ideal, Market patrons gathered for North Carolina beer samplings from Summit (cider for the kids) and tasted a variety of sausages and hot dogs made by Market vendors. Even the brat rolls were made by Market bakers.

The people are asking for more! So, it's time for another deliciously local event; and great timing to celebrate the end of our Annual Pea Pod Fundraiser that will take place the entire month of June.

Tickets will go on sale the morning of the event.

Look for more details coming soon.

Check out the article below from PlanCharlotte, recognizing Gilcrest Farm and Charlotte area Markets, including a Davidson Farmer's Market mention.

Cars jammed the parking lots, spilled over onto the lawn and relentlessly circled,

searching for spaces. One recent Saturday at the state-run Charlotte Regional Farmers

Market, Arlene Haigler could plainly see how a national trend had come home to North

Carolina. Read on.

This Week at the Davidson Farmer's Market!

The Market is back this Saturday with bounties of fresh produce, meats, fish, cheeses, eggs, fruits, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, empanadas, honey, chocolates, perennials and plants, doggie treats, soaps, lavender and more!

On this Memorial Weekend, get all your local grilling goods and fixings at the Market. This local food is super fresh and delicious - perfect for your holiday cook-outs and picnics. Some vendors are offering grill packs, including Gilcrest Natural Farm and Wild Turkey Farm (see below).

Fruit is here! Check out Peaches & Cream, located in the Jackson Lot. They will have peaches, strawberries and blackberries tomorrow. Across from them, you will find our new vendor, C&O Farms. They will have loads of raspberries!  How about a berry-yummy parfait this weekend? Try this flavor explosion - see right here.

New this week - Correll Farm will have brussel sprouts, kohlrabi, celery and more! Barbee Farms will bring the first of their fresh green beans!

Chef Anthony with Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse will be grilling at 9 and 10 a.m. with his Market demo featuring Gilcrest chicken wings and Houston Farms Potato Salad.

The Work Release String Band will bring music to the Market. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

Annual Pea Pod Fundraiser

June 2012

2012 spring imageOn June 1, the Market will kick-off their Annual Friends of the Market Pea Pod Fundraiser. Every Saturday in June, Market patrons will have an opportunity to show their support of the Market by making a donation of any level.

As always there will be donation incentives including Market bumper magnets, new Rooster T's and super cool and sturdy burlap Market totes!

It's estimated that it costs $700 to run each of the 40 Markets a year. The Market relies on corporate and community support to bring local, fresh food to Market each week and provide both educational events and entertainment.

Come visit the Fundraising Booth located beside the DFM tent. We'll be there in June!

Thanks for helping to make the Market come to life!

Essential Soap

Bar Shampoo & Pumice Foot Scrub

Soap sales

Our Hair Heaven Shampoo contains a combination of oils and essential oils that are balancing and healing for your scalp and hair. We infuse the olive oil that is used to make this soap in locally grown Rosemary. One of the perks of using a bar soap shampoo is that there is one less plastic bottle in the world!

Our Twinkle Toes Pumice Foot Soap combines a soothing soap with fine ground pumice. Using daily to scrub your feet will remove calluses, smooth and soften your feet and especially heels! The essential oil blend in this soap deodorizes with Peppermint Oil. It also contains Tea Tree Oil which is anti- fungal and anti- bacterial.
