Thanks DC Grads! | |

Since the Market opened in 2007, Davidson College students have been an integral part of what's made the Market successful.
Student projects, research, summer internships, Board positions, liasons, service and volunteer hours, are among several ways in which Davidson College students have been partners with and made a direct impact on the Market.
Thanks for all you've done for the Market, our community and the local food movement: Jenn Burns, Jarel Hill, Katie Lovett, Claire Naisby...and many more.
Best wishes as your next chapters begin!
Congrats grads! |

From the Farm | |
From Chris at KC Farm, Tues., May 15, I got almost 2 inches of rain yesterday. This is good for my onions....but too much to get the tractor in the garden to put more plastic down...so a catch 22.
From the Imhoff Family, Wed., May 16, Such a lovely day to do garden work and be outside! We got quite a drenching of rain on Monday night. But, I think all the plants are ok despite some washed away topsoil and mulch. With sunshine and warm weather now the veggies and flowers are really growing. The weeds are also happy with the rain so there's not a lack of hoeing or weed pulling out there. :)
From Correll Farm, Wed., May 16, The seasons are beginning to shift from spring to summer. Tomorrow we will also have a lot of our sweet onions. If you like Vidalias - wait till you try ours, fresh out of the field - they are great! Ask us how we grill them - it is one of our favorites! |

Calvin, Peaches & Cream, surprised us last week when he showed-up to Market with a truck-load of peaches. You may expect more peaches tomorrow.
Also new this week, please welcome our new berry vendor, C&O Farms from Hickory. Seth and Tom will be located in the Jackson Street parking lot, between Half Moon Gardens and Wild Turkey Farms. We've been eagerly waiting for there delicate and sweet nuggets!
The Elma C. Lomax Incubator Farm is back! Check out their list of offerings in the Market list below.
Growing Kids Club is back this week with composting, weeding and worms. No need to water this week - Mother Nature took care of us. Stop by and see the garden - zucchini plants are producing and tomato plants are getting bigger every day! If you see a plump veggie - don't hesitate to pick it. Just be sure leave some for others.
It's Davidson College graduation weekend. Congratulations seniors! The Market is a perfect place to bring your folks on Saturday morning. Enjoy the Market buzz, including music by Under the Tree and the Farm-to Fork Taste-Nic!

The Market and the Taste-Nic
The perfect match | |

This is it! Local food - community - agriculture.
This Saturday morning, five chefs will be on the Town Green, preparing seasonal, farm fresh dishes; celebrating the bakers and farmers from the Davidson Farmer's Market.
The farmers communicated to the chefs what's in season now. The chefs selected their Market goods. The farmers delivered. Tomorrow , the chefs will cook!
Smell the garlic scapes and sweet onions roasting. Taste the flavors of juicy ground beef sliders. Sip roasted gazpacho with grilled shrimp and a radish touch. Try Cajun sausage and broccoli penne. Sample grilled Millstone bread with loads of spring veggies and goat cheese. Nibble on Swiss Chard and spinach veggie rolls.
Come out tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and celebrate the local flavor of our community.
Taste-Nic tickets may be purchased at the Market or on the Town Green for $10 each. |
