This Week at the Davidson Farmer's Market!

Bring your mom, spouse, friend or Nana to Market. Start off your morning with a perky cup of coffee, hot tea or cool drink from Summit Coffee. As your special pal relaxes on Summit's back deck overlooking the Market, tell her you'll be back in a bit. Head over to the Herr Flowers tent and buy her a breathtaking bouquet of fresh cut flowers; a lavender treat from The Lavender Lady; a lovely bar of soap from Half Moon Gardens; or lip balm, body cream or foot scrub from Essential Soap. Swing by Twenty Degrees Chocolates for the perfect gift for mom, "Mom = Love," or "Champagne & Roses." Sweet! Two beautiful confection selections. See the full list of Market Offerings below for pre-ordering and more details.

Mom's love breakfast too. Before rejoining your special someone on Summit's back deck, visit By Lucille, Chef Charles, Millstone, Henry's or Flatiron for a yummy breakfast to-go. Now that's a perfect Mother's Day.

You may begin seeing more early summer produce this week, like greenhouse tomatoes; along with fresh eggs, meat, poultry, pasta, fish, cheeses, strawberries, herbs, plants, jams, baked goods, honey, dog treats and more!

At  9 and 10:30 a.m., organic farmer, Suzanne Ballard, will deliver two sessions on Alternative Preservation. Suzanne will demonstrate easy, at-home options for preserving your Market goods so you may enjoy the seasons throughout the year.

Health Benefits of Goats Milk Whey

Whey has been around since people have been making cheese. The Romans used whey as a digestive aid and to strengthen sick people's immune system. Whey is the yellowish liquid that separates from the solid when making cheese and yogurt. 90% of the minerals are in the whey along with much protein, digestive bacteria, minerals, B vitamins, calcium, magnesium & lipids. It is commonly used for children, the elderly and people with a compromised immune system. It is great for digestion, monthly cramps and an upset stomach.

Our family has been reaping the benefits for a long time, so I have decided to offer it to our customers in the form of a whey drink made from goat whey, freshly juiced veggies, fruit with freshly grated ginger. Once you try it you will be hooked forever!! I will be offering free samples at the Market this weekend so stop by and try it! Stay healthy and eat well! :)
