Planting Flowers for Mom

 Earth Day

Growing Kids Club will be open from 8 to 11 a.m. Come by and help tend the garden. Lots of weeds are popping-up and we need your help to keep them under control and away from the veggie plants you nestled into the earth! The plants need water too - they are thirsty!

Mothers Day is next weekend, but Kids Club won't be open. So, tomorrow, we'll make a little something for mom. And maybe by Mothers Day the seeds will have sprouted. What a great prize!

Town Day Parking

No one likes to arrive at their "go-to" lot and not find a spot. It's frustrating! So here are a few lots that you may put into your pool of parking options:

  • Knox Court Parking Lot (Jackson St.)
  • Post Office Parking Lot (Jackson St.)
  • Police Dept. Parking Lot (Jackson St.)
  • Town Hall Parking Lot (Main St.)
  • South Main Square Parking Lot
  • DUMC Parking Lot (Main St.)
  • The Old IB School (South St.)
  • Warehouse Parking Lots (Depot St.)
  • Baker Sports Complex (Baker Dr., Davidson College Campus)

You may also consider bike riding or walking! Just bring some comfortable totes or packs to carry your Market goods home.

Riot in the Pasture

Vendor Spotlight

Barbee Boys

For this week, Tommy and Anna Barbee would like to recognize two of our employees that are at the Davidson Market every week with us. They are Geoff Glass and Brian Davis.

These guys are year-round employees with us. They not only know what it is like to visit the Market on Saturday morning, but also have a good idea of what it takes to run this farm and produce income for 12 months a year. They know what it is like to freeze half to death cleaning strawberry plants in February; to dress green onions when you have no feeling in your fingers from cold. They also know what it is like to spend days going through seed catalogs and last years notes to decide what and when to plant things for the coming year. They also know what it is like to sweat more bodily fluids than a body can drink. They have, and will continue to be there when the fruits and vegetables are planted, tended, harvested, and packed for sale. These guys work very hard to help our farm be successful. They know how, and share our passion, to produce a quality product for our customers. We love to hear the folks that say "Thank you for farming", but we also would like for our customers to say "Thank you" to the guys in the trenches. Without them, we could not produce the amount of quality food throughout the year that we do.

Thanks,

Tommy

Peaches Coming Soon

Here is a good look at how the peaches are coming along.

 Peaches Early

We anticipate having peaches two weeks earlier this year. Possibly by May 12th market, at least by the 19th. Blackberries are also ahead of schedule. The warm winter has led to an early harvest.
