This week at the Davidson Farmer's Market!

Summer produce is here!  This Saturday you'll find: corn, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, eggplant, potatoes, onions, garlic, beets, okra, green beans, mushrooms, herbs, peaches, melons and blueberries. In addition, our vendors will be stocked with beef, pork, chicken, seafood, pasta, breads, cakes, chocolates, cheeses, honey, soaps and lavender products. 
  
The late-June tomatoes are sweet and juicy - a perfect time for a southern tomato pie.  Add your favorite farm cheese to your tomato pie for a creamier version.  Check out this weeks suggested recipes on the left-hand column for tomato inspired recipes and more!
  
Don't miss Chef Andres, grilling-up some Big Oak Pork Chops under the demo tent at 9 and 10 a.m.

 flatironChef Andres from Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse will make his first Market debut this Saturday morning.  Chef Andres will arrive at the Market at 8:15 a.m. to shop for farm fresh ingredients with the DFM Chef Demo Team. He will be using Big Oak Farm's Bone-in Pork Chops, in addition to several other DFM vendor foods.  Come see what's cookin'!

Chef Wes was Sizzling Last Saturday!

Chef Wes Choplin was a hit at the DFM last weekend!

 

He entertained the audience with his culinary skills, while educating them on cooking what's in abundance at the Market now. 

 

Chef Choplin prepared Black Sea Bass with early summer veggies.  If you didn't receive a copy of his recipe - check it out!

 

Thank you to Flying Fish Seafood for supplying the Black Sea Bass for the demo.  And thank you Twin Oaks for the yellow squash, zucchini and bell pepper; Big Jim's for the tomatoes and onion; Barbee for the garlic; and Landis Gourmet Mushroom for the basil.

 

Be sure to visit Chef Wes at his Restaurant, Choplins - located off exit 28 in Cornelius.
