 There will be a variety of prepared barbecue this week thanks to Chef Charles of Chef Charles Catering and Dan Huntley of Outdoor Feasts. They both utilize locally grown products from the farmers at the Market.

Strawberry Shortcake Day  

 

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE DAY was a success! 

 

 

Thanks to those who came to enjoy some delicious

strawberry shortcake at the market last week

and the farmers and volunteers that made it possible!

We served over 300 and raised a couple hundred dollars for DFM educational programs this year!

 

 

Upcoming Events


The Charlotte Mecklenburg Food Policy Council will be holding a fundraiser Thursday June 9th at the Harvest Moon Grill in order to help their organization grow from an all volunteer effort to a self sustaining non-profit organization.
The CMFPC seeks to bring together a diverse array of stakeholders to influence policy in order to maximize the availability, affordability and economic viability of our food shed, more info about them can be found on their website.

We dug more of our red, white and blue potatoes this week as well as some yukon golds. The squash and cucumbers are starting to really get rolling, we will have yellow squash, zucchini, patty pans, 8 balls (round zucchini that are great on the grill), golden zucchini, white cucumbers, and green pickling cucumbers. We are also harvesting an assortment of cabbage including Napa, baby cabbages, red cabbage, savoy and regular round heads.  We will also have Beets, Bell Peppers, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Carrots, Celery, Collards, Daikon, Fennel, Fresh Garlic, Kale, Kohlrabi, Leeks, Lettuce, Onions, Radiccio, Spring Onions, and Turnips.The tables will be full, so come early for the best selection.
