Davidson Farmer's Market Newsletter

Radishes

Saturday, May 14 **8 a.m. - 12 p.m.**

Rain or Shine -the Market will be in full swing Saturday!

The best time to visit the Market is first thing in the morning.  Come early and experience the plethora of choices and have first dibs.

In abundance this week:

Strawberries by the quart and gallon at Twin Oaks Farm, Peaches & Cream and Houston Farm.  Remember to recycle your strawberry baskets each week.

Greens! Try experimenting with your salad greens.  Visit Correll Farm, Coldwater Creek Farm and others to gather a variety of greens such as  kale, Swiss chard, mustard greens and bok choi.  Simply cut these greens into bite-size pieces and mix with your DFM lettuces.  It's a great use of greens and adds an extra punch of flavor and nutrients!  Check out these spring greens recipes, borrowed from Indyweek.com.

Eggs continue to be plentiful.  Adding mixed greens to your morning omelet or frittata gives it gusto!

Mark your calendars!  Next Saturday, May 21, is Strawberry Shortcake Day.  Our DFM volunteers will be preparing and selling scrumptious strawberry shortcakes from 9:30-11:30 a.m. (or while supplies last). The strawberries will come from our very own farmers, as well as the classic shortcake biscuits made by our DFM bakers.  These are yummy and popular, so come early and be sure not to miss out!
