Early celebrations of Mother's Day were focused on peace and bringing positive change to communities. Come experience both at the
market this Saturday!
LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL to honor the mother or special woman in your life?
Caroline's Chocolates has gifts for the chocolate lovin' mama. The Lavender Garden and Essential Soaps have wonderfully scented soaps and bath products, and several vendors including Correll Farms/Red Barn Market, Half Moon Garden and Laughing Llama have pots of herbs, perennials and edible plants. Special guest Rebecca Mays will demonstrate and have on hand beautiful pots with edibles already potted and ready to give as gifts. Herr's Fresh Flowers has custom bouquets of
colorful spring blossoms.
In abundance this week: Strawberries by the quart and gallon at Twin Oaks Farm, Peaches & Cream and Houston Farm. Salad greens! Barbee Farms, KC Farms, Coldwater Creek and others with bok choy, fresh broccoli and spring onions as a complement.

Don't Miss this Special Event at Correll Farm/Red Barn Market: Riot in the Pasture
The Bread Riot is celebrating it's non-profit status by hosting "Riot in the Pasture" - A Celebration of Local Foods!
The Riot will occur at the Correll Farm from 3 to 7 on Sunday, May 22 and will feature food prepared by The Sweetest Thing using local farm fresh ingredients, live music performed by bluegrass band No. 9 Coal, and fun activities for kids.

Beef: Pastured beef ribeyes, skirt steak, flap meat, cubed steak, ribeyes, sirloins, N.Y. strips, kabobs, ground beef, shoulder and rump roasts, stew meat, delicious beef jerky. Pork: chops, ribs, roast, uncured bacon, boston butts, real old fashioned breakfast sausage and NEW - kielbasa, ground pork and cajun sausage. This week we will have asparagus, leeks, spring onions, sweet vidalia type onions, turnips, diakon, swiss chard, kale, collards, mustard greens, arugala, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli raab (this may be our only week with it so come early), and our large variety of salad greens, including green and red leaf, green and red romaine, green and red butterhead and spicy mesculn mix. We will also have our swiss chard, lettuce and mesculn planters that make great Mothers Day gifts. We spent Monday baling some beautiful orchardgrass hay, so why not treat you horses to local foods as well, ask us at the market and we will be glad to let you know about it! |
