Mary Ann Reaume
Store Manager
Michigan transplant and camping enthusiast Mary Ann Reaume's favorite time of year in the store is right now - Spring! Managing TSTE of Sarasota, located in historic St. Armand's Circle, is a pleasure because, "I love the customers and staff, all the people and interactions," she says. Stop in at the store and ask for her by name for top service. She recommends TSTE Coastal Blend with tilapia, but admits TSTE Pirate's Bite is the store's best seller. Hats off to a star performer!

April's Exchange
Blue Cheese Garlic Burger
Combine beef, minced garlic, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Divide into 6 equal parts and form patties. Make a pocket in the center of each burger and fill with a slice of cheese. Liberally coat with freshly ground black peppercorns. Grill to desired doneness.
Spicy Garlic Marinade
Blend all ingredients in a blender or food processor until a course paste forms. Place marinade with meat in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours. Covers up to 2 lbs of meat. Grill, roast or broil as you prefer.
Garlic Cheese Biscuits
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Combine 2 cups baking mix, 2/3 cup milk, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, cheddar cheese powder and beer powder with a wooden spoon until soft dough forms. Beat vigorously 30 seconds. Let it sit to rise for 10 min. Drop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until golden brown. Combine 1/4 cup melted butter or margarine with 1/2 teaspoon Vik's Garlic Fix. Mix well. Brush butter/garlic mix liberally over warm biscuits. Try this extra-special secret: Sprinkle with TSTE Sweet Onion Sugar after you brush the biscuits with garlic. Serve hot. Makes 10 to 12 biscuits.
Vik's Garlic Lemon Dressing
1/4 C fresh lemon juice 1/2 C extra virgin olive oil 1 Tablespoon TSTE Vik's Garlic Fix
Mix or shake well; pour over salad greens or veggies.
Shrimp Scampi
1 pound shrimp (peeled & deveined)
Heat oil & butter in skillet until melts. Add TSTE Vik's Garlic Fix and stir well. Add shrimp & stir well in mixture. Drizzle with lemon juice. Simmer over med/low heat 2-5 minutes, stirring often until shrimp is done. Try it over our TSTE Lemon Orzo. Add 1 cup Orzo to 2 cups rapidly boiling water. Return to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. 1 cup dry yields 3 cups cooked. Serves 4.

April 19th is National Garlic Day! More Reasons to Love Garlic...
Possibly the most popular herb in world cuisine, garlic (Allium satiyum) is a member of the Lily family that originated in central Asia. It owes much of its European popularity to Benedictine monks who grew garlic in their monastery gardens. A perennial plant that forms underground bulbs in clusters called cloves, it is harvested and used fresh, dried and powdered. Cut cloves are noted for their strong flavor and pungent odor, hence the nickname "stinking rose."
Garlic is often paired with lemon, such as in our TSTE Salt Free Garlic Lemon Pepper Blend, but is a very versatile kitchen basic. TSTE Granulated Garlic provides the flavor, without the texture of fresh, and is excellent for use in grilling rubs and blends because it won't burn on the grill. TSTE Garlic Powder retains its flavor and can be stored for year-round use in soups and stews. TSTE Minced Garlic is best used when you want a lighter garlic flavor, but the longer you cook any garlic the milder the taste becomes. Our newest blend, TSTE Vik's Garlic Fix, featured above, is great on EVERYTHING! For fuller flavor, add garlic towards the end of cooking.

Almond Cookie Tea
Warm and toasty, cinnamon and almond are mixed with fine black tea to make an incredible dessert tea. Perfect to curl up with on these last chilly evenings as we head into Spring. Try TSTE Almond Cookie Tea with this Lace Cookie recipe offering!
Classic Lace Cookies
2 ounces almonds (to yield 1/2 cup ground almonds) 5 tablespoons unsalted butter 1/4 cup firmly-packed light brown sugar 2 tablespoons TSTE Coconut Sugar
Preheat oven 350 degrees F. Position two oven racks in the middle and upper third of oven. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. In food processor, grind almonds finely; measure out 1/2 cup; set aside. In a medium saucepan over low heat, heat the butter, brown sugar, TSTE Coconut sugar, and corn syrup until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves, stirring often. Increase the heat to medium high, stirring constantly, and bring the mixture just to a boil. Immediately remove the pan from the heat and stir in the flour and salt until incorporated. Stir in the ground almonds and vanilla extract. Drop the batter by the teaspoon, 3-inches apart, on the prepared cookie sheets (about 1/2 dozen cookies per cookie sheet). Prepare all your pans of cookies at this time even though you are only going to bake 1 or 2 sheets at a time. Bake the cookies until evenly light brown, 8 to 10 min until the cookies spread, become thin, and take on a deep golden color. 5 minutes into the baking time, switch the baking sheets from top to bottom and back to front to promote even baking. The cookies won't begin to spread until approximately 6 minutes into the baking time. Use cooling racks to cool completely.
