Grand Opening Update

We are pleased to announce that our Grand Opening celebration has been set for Saturday, June 4, 2011.

We plan to have various items on sale, along with snacks and refreshments.

We will have our "Raffle for Your Thoughts" drawing which is explained further below in our newsletter.

We are also excited to announce that Peter and Laura Zeranski, the authors of Polish Classic Cooking, will be at our Grand Opening signing their cookbook and offering a few samplings from it. They will be at our store from 1 pm to 3 pm that day.

Carla Hazard Tomaszewski from Poppyfield Press will be at our Grand Opening, as well, with her beautiful note cards that we carry in our shop. 

Plans are still being made for this very special event.  We do hope you can make it to our celebration, but if you are unable to, we still hope to see you soon!

Pattern of the Month Special 

The Polish Pottery Mart has decided to feature a "Pattern of the Month Special."  Such a special will entail one or more patterns being on sale for a specified month.  For the month of May, Ceramika Millena's pattern A2B and Ceramika Wiza's pattern A9 will be 15% off.  You will surely recognize these spectacular Unikat patterns below:

A Big Welcome to Sara Jones.....

After our big move and the start of our new hours, we have  added another member to The Polish Pottery Mart team. 

We are very pleased to welcome Sara to The Polish Pottery Mart.  Sara is a Polish pottery enthusiast who will be working primarily on Mondays from 12-4, and other days on occasion.

A Raffle For Your Thoughts

Throughout the years of bringing this beautiful Polish stoneware to all of you, The Polish Pottery Mart has encountered many customers who have come up with alternative uses for several products.  For instance, an item named as a sugar bowl by the manufacturer has become a Q-Tip or cotton ball holder for many.

Our question to you is:

Do you have any Polish pottery products that you have decided to use in a different manner than the manufacturer has labeled the product? 

We would love to hear all of the creative uses you have come up with because it will allow us to pass these creative ideas along to other Polish pottery lovers!  Also, through sharing your ideas, we will enter your name in to a raffle for the opportunity to win a $20 gift certificate for our store.  Reply by June 4 to be eligible for this special raffle. The winner will be selected at our Grand Opening.

Bingo Event - Sunday, May 22, 1-4 p.m.

 It is great to know that the Family Game Store has been kind enough to allow us to use their game room on the second floor of the New Weave Building to host our Bingo games. Their new tables and chairs are a luxury and convenience for us.

But, as was mentioned at the last Bingo event, admission will now cost $20, since we must rent the game room from the Family Game Store based on the number of participants.  We do request that you please continue to RSVP to our Bingo games because we must have 20 players to have our monthly event.  We appreciate your cooperation.

Polish Recipe of the Month:

Chicken in Lemon Sauce

By: Peter and Laura Zeranski 

Great Grandmother Maria Grudzinska's Chicken in Lemon Sauce 

One large chicken, skinned, roasted or boiled, de-boned, and cut into bite-sized pieces

2 tablespoons soft butter

3 tablespoons flour

1 3/4 cups chicken broth, boiling

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice, (more or less to taste)

2 tablespoons chopped parsley (or dill)

In a small bowl mix the butter and flour very well.  Stir in a few tablespoons of boiling broth.  Transfer this mix to the pot with the remaining broth and bring back to a low boil.  Add the lemon juice slowly, tasting as you go.

Add the chicken pieces to the sauce and heat gently.  Transfer to a warmed serving dish.  Sprinkle with chopped parsley or dill.  Serve with rice, a green vegetable or salad.
