GOOD FRIENDS ARE GOOD MEDICINE

In case you haven't already noticed that good friends are good medicine, please know: A large body of research shows this to be true. A review of almost 150 separate studies found that people with strong social ties were so much healthier, researchers suggested that limited social ties should be considered a risk factor akin to smoking, obesity, or lack of exercise. Studies comparing close friendships to close family relationships found that friendships brought more benefits. And supportive friendships are linked to longevity as well as quality of life: Those with strong social ties not only live longer, they are typically less stressed, less likely to be depressed - and more likely to maintain desired weight, healthy immune responses, and good memory function. Why not make a call right now and invite someone to join you for coffee, lunch, girls' night out, the upcoming game, or a walk in the park?

Massage Research Report

MASSAGE THERAPY HELPS SENIORS WITH PERSISTENT PAIN

Persistent pain, common among elders, is linked to poor health, lower quality of life, increased use of pharmaceuticals, increased risk of depression, and cognitive decline. A recent study examined the potential impact of massage therapy in adults over 60 with persistent pain. Those who received massage therapy during the previous year reported less limitations due to physical or emotional concerns as well as better energy levels, emotional health, and overall health. The pattern linking use of massage to these benefits was not affected by age, education, total number of health conditions, number of body areas with persistent pain, or other complementary and alternative senior handsmedical modalities used. Researchers concluded that although seniors often experience pain that eludes cure, massage therapy holds potential as an effective intervention. WHY BOTTLED WATER?
Did you know that bottled water is not as tightly regulated as tap water, is far more variable in quality, and in taste tests across the country is consistently rated lower than tap water? The environmental impacts of bottled water and related packaging, shipping, and waste disposal are immense. Add to all this the fact that bottled water costs 2000 times as much as tap water and you've got to wonder how modern Amebottled waterricans developed such a heavy bottled-water habit. In brief, most of us are simply too gullible about ads. In the 1970s, the bottling industry began a massive ad campaign designed to establish "manufactured demand" for bottled water... and we fell for it! (
