30th Anniversary Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic

STP

We are excited to be the Official Bread of the 30th Anniversary Group Health STP on July 11th and 12th! This 200-mile bicycle ride is the largest multi-day bicycle event in the Northwest, with up to 10,000 participants riding from Seattle to Portland in one or two days. The route takes you through the scenic valleys, forests, and farmlands of western Washington and Oregon. Come join what Bicycling Magazine has listed as one of the best cycling events in the nation!

And if you can't make the ride, make sure to drop by the Finish Line Festival at Holladay Park in northeast Portland. This year's festival will feature music, food and beverage service, exhibitor and sponsor booths, massage tent, showers, first aid, and most importantly, free samples of Dave's Killer Bread!

For more information, check out the STP Website.

Dave's Killer Bread on Foodoro.com

We have begun selling Dave's Killer Bread on Foodoro.com, an internet marketplace where people can buy specialty food directly from artisanal foodmakers. The great thing about this website is it allows customers who don't live in the Pacific Northwest to have fresh DKB shipped directly to them.
Dave's Video

Dave in the bakery

Dave has a brand new video "Good Seed : The Dave's Killer Bread Story." It tells the story of his rise from knucklehead to killer baker.

Click here to watch the video.

The purpose of this video is to assist in getting the inspirational story behind Dave's Killer Bread to more audiences. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the finished movie on DVD for your group, please contact dan@daveskillerbread.com.

Customer Feedback
We have seen a number of Dave's Killer Bread knockoffs making their way to a few shelves in the northwest. We can't mention them by name, but they are 16oz loaves, not organic (made with much cheaper ingredients) and are sweetened with corn syrup. But they are cheap: $3 a loaf. Have you checked them out? We'd love to get your feedback.

A Message From Dave

After months of rain with seemingly no end in sight, we have made it to that magical time of the year, a time of barbecues with friends and family, raucous and festive parades, and leaving early on Friday afternoons to squeeze the most out of these long, hot summer days. And what better way to enjoy the fine summer weather than cruising down to Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland to check out the Waterfront Blues Festival! From July 2nd to July 5th, I will be there sampling a bunch of my breads to the soulful tunes of Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Johnny Winter, and Robben Ford. Make sure to stop by our booth, say hello, grab a slice of blues bread, and throw on your coolest "Blues Brothers" shades, cause its gonna be a blast!

In other news, Inc. Magazine  has published a long piece in their June issue telling the story behind Dave's Killer Bread. Although at times a little Hollywood-esque and exaggerated, I am very happy with the article and flattered they would find my story interesting. To read the article, click here.

Finally, the Oregon Department of Corrections Intake Center is now using my video as part of the Offender Intake Orientation process. Each month, more than 400 men and women enter the custody of the ODOC. I have always hoped that this video could help others recognize that their incarceration experience is an opportunity for change. It is difficult to put into words how honored I am to contribute to such a great cause.

Hope to see you on the waterfront!

Tour de Cure

American Diabetes Association 16th Annual Tour de Cure

We are very proud to support the American Diabetes Association 16th Annual Tour de Cure bike ride on July 25th in Hillsboro, Oregon. Tour de Cure riders will munch on sandwiches made with bread donated by yours truly. Last year, more than 38,000 cyclists in 78 Tour events raised nearly $16 million to support the mission of the ADA: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Killer "Breadquarters" Store Expansion

We are currently renovating and expanding the Killer Breadquarters--officially the Healthy Bread Store--to accommodate more products and customers. Keep your eyes peeled for our next newsletter, which will have tons of info about the grand re-opening of the Healthy Bread Store celebration. In the meantime, our store is open and as always, you will find righteous deals on fresh "imperfects" (the only thing "imperfect" is how they look), day-old loaves, production overruns, and store returns (which are sold out of the freezer).  This is all still very killer bread, as many folks have discovered. Even the Willamette Week has been singing our praises ("nutty, hearty, whole-grain organic loaves that beat the pants off any sandwich slabs in town--and maybe the universe). It's worth a trip to Milwaukie for a lot of folks. And to sweeten the deal, look for a link to a buy one, get one free coupon on the left side of this email.

Check out the table below to see just how much you could save by making a trip down to Killer Breadquarters at:
