Dave in the bakery

Dave has a brand new video "Good Seed : The Dave's Killer Bread Story." It tells the story of his rise from knucklehead to killer baker.

Watch the video on: daveskillerbread.com

The purpose of this video is to assist in getting the inspirational story behind Dave's Killer Bread to more audiences. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the finished movie on DVD for your group, please contact dan@daveskillerbread.com.

40th Annual U District StreetFair

We are excited to be a vendor at the 40th Annual U District StreetFair, the nation's longest running street festival and self-described "country fair meets urban retail corridor" for the Seattle region. With two main stages featuring music from 4 decades, a special children's area with age appropriate events, and a wonderful medley of street performers, this year's StreetFair should be a blast! Be sure to stop by our booth to sample all of our breads, including our delectably devilish Sin Dawg and wholesome Robust Raisin bread. The fair starts on Saturday, May 16th from 10-7 and continues on Sunday, May 17th from 10 to 6.

A Message From Dave

With summer right around the corner, we've dusted off the tents, unrolled the banners, and are amped and ready for all the exciting events we are participating in (not to mention a much-needed break from the rain). For starters, we will be in Beaverton, OR on May 9th to kick off what looks to be an exciting Farmers Market season. We are always thrilled to be a part of such a beautiful and diverse Farmers Market. As always, you can find us at the Portland Farmers Market on Saturdays at Portland State University. On May 16th and 17th, we will be in Seattle sampling all the varieties of my bread at the 40th Annual U District StreetFair. This will be our second year at the Fair and I am more than happy to be back! Rounding out the month, on May 27th we will be at OMSI After Dark discussing the "science" behind Dave's Killer Bread.

In July, we are proud to sponsor an event near and dear to my heart: the Waterfront Blues Festival. From July 2nd to July 5th, we will be sampling bread on the waterfront to the soulful tunes of Etta Baker, Robben Ford, and Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings. On July 11th and 12th, almost 10,000 cyclists taking part in the 30th Anniversary Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic will munch on sandwiches made on bread donated by yours truly. We are honored to be the official bread of this year's STP; this event is just one of many cycling events that make the Pacific Northwest so unique. Finally, (and technically around the start of Fall but who's counting anyways?) we round out the season with the 2009 Cycle Oregon Week Ride, which we are also very proud to sponsor. Starting September 12th and continuing until the 19th, cyclists will ride through the mythical State of Jefferson, a region of southern Oregon and northern California that has a rich history of individualism as well as a bounty of rugged scenery.

One final note, I have several "give back" events lined up. As part of my greater mission of hoping to inspire others to make dramatic changes in their own lives, I will continue to visit special groups to tell my story.

Product Updates

Check out Dave's newest creation!

black and white final
These hamburger buns are truly killer!
  • 6g of fiber per bun
  • 8g of protein
  • 1000mg of Omega-3
These bad boys can be found only at the Portland and Beaverton Saturday Farmers Market. With any luck, they will land on a shelf in your favorite store sometime soon.

In keeping with my quest for the perfect loaf, I have made a number of changes to the following varieties of killer bread:

- Cracked Wheat now contains 5g of fiber, less calories (100 calories), and less sugar (3g). Without compromising on killer taste and texture, the added fiber gives this bread a little extra *umph*.

- Power Seed is now completely organic. We have made the switch from natural fruit juices to organic fruit juices.

- Nuts and Grains will be completely organic in the next month or so.

Save $$$ at Killer Breadquarters

To save $$$, you should visit Killer Breadquarters-officially The Healthy Bread Store--where you will find righteous deals on fresh "imperfects" (the only thing "imperfect" is how they look), day-old loaves, production overruns, and store returns (which are sold out of the freezer).  This is all still very killer bread, as many folks have discovered. Even the Willamette Week has been singing our praises ("nutty, hearty, whole-grain organic loaves that beat the pants off any sandwich slabs in town--and maybe the universe). It's worth a trip to Milwaukie for a lot of folks. And to sweeten the deal, look for a buy one, get one free coupon on the left side of this email.
