Rozestraten Brothers

The Rozestraten Brothers, Ted and Frank, have captured the American Dream.  Born in Holland their family came to the United States after WWII with a goal to own their own business.
 
In 1974 they started their siding company and for thirty years they have provided their customers with reliable, high quality siding and workmanship.  They are proud to have been awarded the prestigious VSI Award from the Vinyl Siding Institute.
 
Ted and Frank contacted SCORE asking for help with their marketing efforts to ensure they would not lose market share in the fast paced business climate they faced.  SCORE counselors are working with the Rozestraten Brothers in the area of sales communication emphasizing customer cost savings as well as effective use of their total marketing communication tools.

Two New Community Resource Partners 
We are pleased to announce that the CANANDAIGUA NATIONAL BANK and THE BANK OF CASTILE have joined SCORE Rochester as Community Resource Partners to support the small business community in our area.  Their confidence in us is very much appreciated.
 
 
Bay Trail Middle School and SCORE Rochester Announce the Larry H. Clarke Jr. Entrepreneurship Award Recipients
Since 2006 the Larry H. Clarke Jr. Entrepreneurship Award has been given to seventh and eighth grade students who have exhibited exceptional work in the Entrepreneurship unit in the Home and Career Skills class at Bay Trail Middle School.
 
Students nominated must demonstrate outstanding creativity and effort to conceive and develop the idea for their business and business plan.  This year's winners were Megan Murante of Rochester and Elliot Wood of Macedon.  
 
 
SBS News . . .
June 15th - SBA now accepting loans for a temporary new program called America's Recovery Capital.  "ARC" loans up to $35,000 are designed to provide a "bridge" for viable small businesses with immediate financial hardship to keep their doors open until they get back on track.  Read More.
 
June 24th - Small businesses seeking to expand will be able to refinance existing loans used to purchase real estate and other fixed assets as a result of permanent changes to the SBA's 504 Certified Development Company loan program.  The changes are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  Read More. 
 
Looking Towards 2010
Senate Financial Services and General Gov't. Subcommittee Hearing on FY 2010 Budget 
 

On June 16th SBA Administrator, Karen Mills testified on her support the President's 2010 Budget for the SBA, as well as providing a brief update on the SBA's progress with the Recovery Act.
 
In her speech she identifies the 4 core functions of the SBA - disaster assistance programs and 3 divisions; capital access, government contracting and entrepreneurial development (she mentions 350 SCORE chapters).  She requests $779M for the 2010 budget outlining specific spending plans.
