Carol Love, retired CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/ Syracuse Region and Ann Sartwell, retired CEO of the Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley, Inc. spoke in May to the SCORE membership about efforts underway that will enable SCORE to assist non-profit organizations in building their capacity to better serve their communities.

Carol and Ann, along with SCORE member Paula Hollinger, Jim Ahearn, Multiple Sclerosis Society Upstate NY Chapter President, and Jim Mroczek, retired CEO of the Arc of Monroe County, form the Advisory Council chartered to develop processes to be used by SCORE to effectively counsel local non-profit clients.  SCORE strongly believes that to be effective, competitive and sustainable, non-profit organizations must not only be caring and creative, they must run their operations as businesses. SCORE is anxious to work with non-profits to help them ensure their financial self-sufficiency enabling them to concentrate on their mission.

SCORE Rochester will kick off training and implementation of this initiative in the near future.

The funds will be used to continue to improve and expand counseling, workshop and seminar locations.  In addition, we will continue to improve our website and e-mail newsletter for our clients, and continue our expanded participation in more small business and entrepreneurial-related trade shows, with special emphasis on women's organizations and the minority communities.  Their confidence in us is very much appreciated.
