Brenda Brown,

Director of Advancement

Have you ever had the opportunity to witness history in the making?

When I served the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict as their Director of Communications, I had the very special opportunity to witness history as the Sisters celebrated their 150th anniversary. I know I will have that same feeling as Saint John's Prep celebrates becoming an International Baccalaureate World School on Friday, April 8.

Please join us from 4-7 p.m. in the Great Hall and be a part of this incredible celebration of yet another milestone in the life of the Prep School. Presentations will be made at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. and we will be serving wonderful hors d'oeuvres and beverages. RSVP to Mary by April 1st by clicking here. If you are not able to attend, but would like some more information about what the I.B. Programme is, check out this great, short video.

This is also the same date as our Career Mentoring Day and Alumni/Staff vs. the Seniors Basketball Game in the old gym. We are excited to have two members of the class of 1990 with us for the keynote addresses, Dr. Chris Wenner and Regent Wendy (Rachey) Hulsebus. Come for the morning and stay for the day.

Looking forward to witnessing history with you on April 8!

Benedictine Peace,

Brenda

Get Your Copy!  The Magic Fault by Paul Mohrbacher
Paul Mohrbacher, Class of 1952, has written a new novelMagic Fault called The Magic Fault.  The Shroud of Turin - claimed to be the burial cloth of Christ - is stolen from a chapel in the cathedral of Turin in the fall of 2004. The Shroud is probably the most famous relic in the Catholic Church - even if perhaps a fake. The thieves leave only one obscure clue: The relic will head off a disaster. Beyond the identity and grand design of the thieves lies an opportunistic plan to tilt the Catholic Church eastward - again.

This mystery novel is available at Amazon.com and more information can be found at: www.magicfault.com
Save the date - May 6th

Please join us for our Leadership Lunch, Thursday, May 5th, 2011 in the SJP Weber Center.  Lunch and presentation begin at 11:30 and wrap up just after 12:30 pm.  We would love to have you join us!  More info to follow.

Armor of Light nominations needed
New LogoWe could use your help selecting the individual who best personifies the SJP community and would be a candidate for the Armour of Light Award.  In November this individual will be recognized at the Legacy Dinner.  So, put on your thinking caps and let me know who you would like to receive this honor.  bbrown@csbsju.edu or (320) 363-2098.  Thank you!
Are you an author?  Please let us know!

BookHave you authored a book, an article, maybe a play?  Let us know!  We are always working on "the next issue" of PrepLife and would love to feature some of our SJP talented writers.  Maybe you are working on something big that isn't quite there yet, still let us know.  It's interesting, and important!  Feel free to email Marti Jacobs at mjacobs@csbsju.edu or call 320-363-3112.

Just welcomed a baby in your life? Let us know!

Attention Prep alumni and parents of alumni: if you have baby bibrecently become a new parent or grandparent, we would love to help you celebrate by sending you a baby bib as our gift to you! Just send Mary an email and let her know who has recently welcomed a little bundle of joy in to the world. We would love a photo back of your baby wearing the bib for Prep Life's Class Notes!

A big thanks to Prep parent, Dave Phipps, for designing our "smart baby" for the bibs. Dave is a professional cartoonist and publishes a weekly e-newsletter, Toon-Up. If you'd like to sign up for a free subscription, please click here.
