Greetings!
| | Brenda Brown, Director of Advancement |
The last quarter of 2010 brings you many great ways to get connected at Prep. The list of fun events include the 11th Annual Prep Classic at Madden's, Collegeville Colors, Oktoberfest, Legacy Dinner, the Loeber Lunch in Saint Paul and Christmas at Saint John's. If you haven't yet joined us at one or more of these events, please consider this your personal invite for the remaining events! More information can be found on the PAN.
PAN? What's the PAN? It's the new Prep Alumni Network! This new online service is only available to Prep alums (you are an alum if you sat in a Prep chair as a student for one day!). You are now able to search online for other Preps, by graduating year, first and last name and you can also conduct advanced searches by geography and occupation. So if you are looking for a Prep podiatrist in Pittsburgh, you can now find that person! Due to privacy concerns, we are not able to directly give personal information for alums. With the PAN, you set your own privacy controls for your profile and choose what you'd like other alums to see.
The PAN also has all of our events and online registration with the ability to securely pay for events and make donations. For those of you who like Facebook, you can link the PAN to your Facebook account. And for those who don't care for Facebook, but still want to connect with Preps, it works completely outside of Facebook as well.
The other exciting aspect of the PAN is the Career Center. Preps can post open positions, search for jobs, post your resume and also request Career Mentors or volunteer as a Mentor. In these crazy economic times, we all need to tap into our networks and we hope that the PAN will help our Prep alumni connect with other Preps. Please post any open positions you may have and consider volunteering as a Career Mentor to help out a Prep who is just starting out.
If you are an alum, you will shortly be receiving a letter which gives you your ID number, but click here to check it out and register. You might be able to register with your birthdate before you receive the letter (we don't have birthdates for all Preps, hence the ID number mailing). You can also access PAN through www.sjprep.net under Alumni/Prep Alumni Network or Alumni/Find a Classmate.
We hope that you will find a way to connect with Prep- either at an event or in the comfort of your own home. Let's keep our Community strong! Benedictine Peace,
Brenda |

Your feedback is needed!
You are an integral part of our school community and we would like your opinions. As part of our periodic self-study process, we are conducting a formal survey of our constituents. The survey will take approximately ten minutes to complete. Please note the following.
· Please review the school's mission statement prior to completing the survey: Saint John's Preparatory School exists to inspire students to great achievements and self-understanding by involving them in a premiere liberal arts curriculum focused on Academic Rigor and Spiritual Growth within a Benedictine Environment.
· Your answers are anonymous and confidential, so please provide your honest opinion. We are using a third party (ISACS survey team) to process the survey and we will not know the identity of any survey participant.
Please take the survey multiple times if you have multiple roles within the school. For example, if you hold all of these roles, please answer the questions from a parent's perspective, then take the survey again as an alumni, then again as a staff member.
· You will be able to provide written or narrative comments about your views of our school along with answers to specific questions.
· Please complete the survey during this session. The survey will close on November 12, 2010.
· Please let Brenda Brown know if you have technical difficulties with the survey. CLICK HERE FOR THE SURVEY - Thank you!

Thanks for coming! Oktoberfest 2010
Thank you to all you hungry and thirsty patrons who came and celebrated SJP's Oktoberfest on October 9th. With the help of Emmerich and Burgi Sack in the kitchen we had fabulous food! Students did a great job serving and taking care of our guests. We had a small beer crisis in the beginning for which we apologize, but after the fix the mugs were beautiful and frothy. We are grateful to all the parents, students, volunteers, faculty, staff and alums that made the evening such a success! |
