Happy New Year!!
Happy Fiscal New Year, that is! Thank you to everyone who supported Saint John's Prep this past year. I am happy to let you know that we have surpassed this year's Annual Fund Goal, thanks to your continued and new support. Whether you sent a gift for the Annual Fund, helped us to shore up the Endowment, made a gift for a special purpose or gave an in-kind gift for our Wish List, it is all apprecaited and needed. Thank you!!
We had a WONDERFUL Reunion Weekend yet again this year. This is my favorite weekend of the year and all of us in the Advancement Office love welcoming you all back home to Prep. New this year were "Back to Prep" classes featuring Organic Gardening, Benedictine Values and an Intro to PAN (the new online Prep Alumni Network). Please let us know if you have ideas for next year- who knows, maybe Froehle will let off an rocket or two?!
It is our goal that Reunion Weekend is simple- "add water and stir!" We'll add the water and all of the ingredients for a terrific time and you just stir up interest among your classmates. It's always the last weekend in June for ALL years, every year! Hope to see you next June 24-26!
Brenda
P.S. Did you see the new PrepLife? Please email our new Editor, Marti Jacobs with any comments you may have. And we're always looking for writers and Editorial Board members, just let her know you are interested! |
More on REUNION 2010 - Another Great Party! |
Thank you to all the alumni that attended the All School Reunion Weekend. We had a wonderful turnout and with a lot of luck and prayers we were able to get through the tricky parts without buckets of rain coming down. The weekend kicked off with a Twin Towers dinner celebrating 50 years for the class of 1960. On Saturday there were some "back-to-Prep-school" classes and the polka mass, a must do. As usual The Country Polkateers did not disappoint. Immediately after mass the Big Event began filling the Weber Center and outdoor tent, with everyone caming away a winner from the casino. Check out this year's photos.
It's already time to think about next year. Look out classes 1961-1966-1971-1976-1981-1986-1991-1996-2001 and 2006 your class agents have a mission to get you back here for all the fun! As always, any and all classes are more than welcome! Mark your calendar for June 24,25 & 26, 2011. |
Pull for Prep - July 17, 2010 |

PrepLife - A look at past, present and a lot more!
By now you should have found the latest PrepLife in your mailbox! We hope you enjoy it and welcome your feedback. We have heard from many alums who know of more veterans that either served or died in the Vietnam war. A sincere thank you to the many of you who shared this information so we can accurately update our records.
How about the next issue? Know any outstanding women of Prep? They can be young, old, rocket scientists, volunteers, stay home moms, movie stars or whatever! We're looking for extrodinary stories of women in the Prep community that deserve some ink. If you think you have an idea to share, please email Marti Jacobs at mjacobs@csbsju.edu or call 320-363-3112. |

A huge thank you! Annual Campaign a success!
We wrapped up our Annual Campaign on June 30th and can officially call it a success! Through the amazing generousity of our constiuents, we were able to suprass our goal! This is great news for the students of the upcoming 2010-11 school year. Last year more than $808,000 in financial aid was awarded, and individual awards ranged from $500 to $12,000. This year is expected to be even more. So, thank you, from the bottom of our Benedictine hearts for all the support and generousity.

How's your swing comin' along?
Your golf swing, that is. It's time to think Prep Classic at Madden's. This is a fabulous fundraising golf tournament that sells out annually. So get yourself in (golf) fighting shape this summer and bring your game to The Classic golf course at Madden's in Brainerd, MN, September 21, 2010.
You have your choice of either 18 holes (The Classic course) or 9 holes(social golf). Afterwards, enjoy an amazing meal on the 19th hole, prepared by the resort and hosted by SJP alum Brian Thuringer '68 and his wife Deb. Click here for more information and registration. |

Host Families needed for Chilean students |
Help! SJP is in need of host families for Chilean students that come from Santiago area Benedictine high schools. The students arrive the third week of August and stay until the end of fall semester, December 23rd. This program is one of two immersion exchange programs that the Prep School offers. It is not necessary for anyone in the home to speak Spanish, generally these students have an excellent grasp of the English language. If you would like to help out and host a student or two, or know of someone who would, please contact Greta Noska at gnoska@csbsju.edu or call 320-363-3337. |
