Greetings!
The 153rd consecutive year of Prep School education at Saint John's has officially begun today! At Prep Talk today, I asked the Upper School students to give you a smile and a wave (see above) and they enthusiastically responded. Of course, no one still likes to sit in the front row, even after 152 years!!
Although we wait until the tenth day of school to officially record our enrollment numbers, I am very pleased to report that we are over our budgeted goal of 305 students in the 7-12 grade! This year also will be noted in the Prep School history as the first year we admitted 6th graders into Prep. Kathy Doom is absolutely thrilled to pilot this program and we are expecting that she will again repeat the incredible success she had in starting the Middle School program for Prep.
Lastly, our tagline "Your World Awaits" has never
rung so true as our hallways welcome students from SIXTEEN different countries! We can never measure the positive impact that all of our students receive from the day-to-day interaction with such a diverse community. As Mary Catherine Bateson said, "Insight, I believe, refers to the depth of understanding that comes by setting experiences, yours and mine, familiar and exotic, new and old, side by side, learning by letting them speak to one another."
Thank you again, and again, for your prayers and your support of Saint John's Prep as we begin another school year.
Benedictine Peace!
