RIL Lego Chess Set

Greetings!

It doesn't seem possible that May is actually here already. The days have been so beautiful lately, who would believe that three short weeks ago the people of Raleigh were seeking shelter in their basements?

I was actually on a soccer field in Concord when I heard that a tornado had been spotted in Apex.  I followed everyones' lead on the sidelines and whipped out my cell, sending my "partner in crime" a joking text of "Better batten' down the hatches.  I hear strong winds are coming your way!"  You could've bought me for two cents when Chris immediately responded "Got the WRAL warning call and we're in the basement!"  My heart sank and once again I thought, "Nice job Tonya!  You play too dang much!"

Chris and I both are so thankful that for the most part it seems like those we know had little to no damage from the storm situation.  We struggled with how we could help, thinking that because we were slow to start... there might not be a need.  Now however, we realize that it's never too late.  A number of schools that we support still have families in need.  We're sure so many of you have helped in some way, but just in case you were wanting to but never quite got around to it, Rock It Learning would appreciate your help.

For the next two weeks, please feel free to drop off gift certificates to grocery stores or restaurants, diapers, and wipes at our office.  On May 23rd we'll deliver the donations to the schools that contacted us for support.

Thanks for your efforts to help those in need.

Tonya & Chris

AGING OUT OPTIONS
We've had several requests for this info which ran in last month's newsletter, so here it is again:

It's sad, but we knew this day would come.  It started with our own boys and Andrew - now even more of our campers are growing up and moving on to the next great adventure in their still young lives.  Because we still care about them, regardless of their age, here are some options - other than staying at home - that they may want to consider.

Wake Tech
Both campuses offer summer camps for rising 9th and 10th graders.  These camps range from video gaming, engineering, photography, drama to learning new languages.  Go to Wake Tech to find out more about these opportunities for your child.

North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences
Are you a nature or wildlife lover?  While this program does not pay, it would be very worthwhile to pursue a position as a Junior Curator.  Students would gain real world experiences that would better their chances in future job situations, work closely with people that would train you on specific management duties that could easily be used in other professions, as well as give you a very good experience to put on a future college application or job resume.

Go to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science website to read more about the curator position or to complete the application.  Completed applications are due no later than Wednesday, May 18.  Natural Science Museum Youth Programs

SUMMER CAMPS

There are now limited seats available for camps in both June and August. We do have waiting lists for all camps that are currently full just in case schedules change for people. Please check our Calendar for availability.

Also, please remember that a $50 deposit (per camp) is due at the time of enrollment.  If you have enrolled your child in a camp, please send in your deposit as soon as possible.
RIL HOURS OF OPERATION

Please note that since our move, our hours of operation are 9am - 4pm. We also leave the office for recess from 1-2pm (generally).  Anyone needing before or aftercare should contact Right Time Kids.   Make arrangements with them, let us know, and we'll be glad to retrieve your child at 9am and deliver them at 4pm. Click HERE for RTK's information.
