Dog-isms:

Side Dal
American Indian legend of dogs:
The earth trembled and a great rift appeared, separating the first man and woman from the rest of the animal kingdom. As the chasm grew deeper and wider, all the other creatures, afraid for their lives, returned to the forest -- except for the dog, who after much consideration leapt the perilous rift to stay with the humans on the other side.

Hello Dal Lover!

As we leave the dog days of summer behind, we now move on into our fall events schedule. There are a lot of events that will be going on and we truly can use some extra volunteers to help staff these events. Please check our website calendar and see if you might be able to jump in on any of the events. Staying visible in our community is vital to maintaining support for our rescue.

"If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men." - St. Francis of Assisi

Dal-loween is Lurking for You!

Annual Picnic gets better & better

Dal-loween 2012 flyer
Our Annual Dal-loween Festi-Dal is coming up fast. We have been working hard at adding new things to keep it fresh for all of you. We are still seeking items for the auctions, but have Disney tickets, Sea World tickets, hotel stays, dining, a ride on the Key West Express, and so much more waiting for you. Of course, we'd gladly accept your help to secure even more items. We have Dave & Paul, who help us with our wine socials, providing music... they are awesome! Brenda Knoll will be back taking photos for Florida-style Christmas cards... there will be no white Christmas for us! We also will be able to offer low cost micro-chipping and vaccinations at our event for those of you who like to combine the necessary with fun & pleasure. So y'all, keep your calendars open & join us at Dal-loween this year!

Yup, We are Busy Bees

Nine of our pups got lucky this month

Belle in foster
Our plea worked! Belle is finally out of the kennel & in a new foster home... we hope it becomes permanent.

The dog days of summer imply slow, lazy days where little gets done, but oh boy have we been busy.
Despite having had a number of dogs come into rescue, we have had even more going to homes for a change... YAY! Joining us this month are: Juliet, Belle, Kennedy, Kendall, Gidget, Tipper & another Frankie. The emaciated girl from Georgia, Peaches, has found transport & a foster so she will arrive here today (Saturday). Of course, the best news is about the dogs that found their new homes. For August Crystal, Peter Pan, Brooklyn, Rio, Pierce, Pinto, Kennedy, Hope, & Kendall all went to their new homes. Look for their happy "Tails" on our website!

McDonough Gal 2
Our GA "Peaches" will be arriving soon, thanks to supporter help!
So for 2012; with 16 dogs carrying over from 2011, 2 dogs returned, an additional 57 dogs into rescue, and three crossing the rainbow bridge; we have managed 44 adoptions with 2 more pending. So we still have the responsibility of caring for 28 Dals & dogs. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed. Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:
