Dog-isms:

Side Dal
I love my dogs,
This is their home
from which I hope they'll never roam.
They're faithful friends,
I love them best.
This is their home,
you are a guest.
If dogs to you
are just a peeve,
then by all means
feel free to leave.

Hello Dal Lover!

Foster plea
April has been an incredibly busy month. One thing that keeps getting driven home to us is how badly we need FOSTER HOMES! We pay around $1000 a month to house dogs in kennels until a foster could be located or a dog is adopted... it is money we'd rather spend bringing a dog to wellness. So look around and see if you can find a spot in your heart to give just one dog their second chance.

"If you don't have a dog--at least one--there is not necessarily anything wrong with you, but there may be something wrong with your life."
~ Vincent Van Gogh ~

A Girl Named Sue Transforms into Hope

She comes with 6 newborn puppies

Hope

Rescue isn't just about pulling the easy dog or the simple adoption; sometimes it is just about doing whatever you can to give a dog a second chance at life. SUE, renamed HOPE, was a Miami-Dade save that came with SIX additional reasons to save her... OMG there are puppies! At first we could barely tell that HOPE was a Dalmatian-mix, the demodectic mange was so bad she was nearly bald and her skin roughened & dark. Too add to her misery she had just birthed six tiny pups, 4 girls & 2 boys, whose parentage is unknown and momma isn't telling ("sneaky" dog

Finally you can see HOPE is part Dal though her skin is still red & sore.
would be our guess). So thanks to Diane, who offered to foster the small family, we were able to save them all.

HOPE is now recovering, adding back weight, and re-growing hair as her "children" continue to thrive. The pups are already walking and showing their personalities. We estimate that sometime in June the puppies will be old enough to adopt into their forever homes... Florida has a minimum of 8-weeks of age before adoption. Spay & neuters will be required!  If you have an interest in any of the pups and think they could be a good addition to your family, please email Susan at daldoglady@netzero.net ... you can find applications on our website.

April Showers??

More like a deluge

Princess, now Sydney Tres, with her new Daddy.
Seems like April brought us a flood of dogs, just wish we had as many adoptions. Joining us in rescue this month are:

Clinton, Justice, Sue (now Hope) & her 6 puppies, Slippers, Princess, Pongo (now Jax), China, & Spike.

If you were counting, that made for 14 new dogs in our care!

We got lucky and had some adoption success with Daisy Duke, Princess, Slippers, and Cupcake who found their new homes. Justice, a 12-year-old, joined Rick's home for wayward seniors.

So for 2012, with 16 dogs carrying over from 2011 plus 2 dogs returned and two crossing the rainbow bridge, we have managed 20 adoptions, leaving us with the responsibility of caring for 35 Dals & dogs. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed. Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:
