Carol C. is Back & Painting for Our Dogs!
Two Paintings spotlight PINTO & his quest for a home
"WHITE ROSE" by CAROL CHRETIEN 8"x8" oil on gallery wrapped canvas It can be framed or displayed as is. $100.00
In Carol's words: My first offering for ART HELPING ANIMALS for 2012 is my vision of the white rose that symbolizes the Spiritual. This particular piece is a small one painted in many thin glazes to allow the illusion of light to come through representing backlighting. It captures the impression of luminosity and a delicate layering of petals.
"SKY RIDER"by CAROL CHRETIEN12"x12"oil on gallery wrapped canvas$125.00
This piece is another of multiple glazes of color to achieve the depth and glow of light. A bit of drama in this Moonscape that draws you in and hopefully takes you to a mystical reverie. One of the good things about having been away from painting for the last year was that it gave me a renewed perspective about just what it was that I enjoyed so much about my favorite medium, and my approach to painting. I enjoy taking the time now to glaze and relax with the work. Live with it a bit and sit back and change a passage here or tweak a stroke there. And color...there is nothing I like better than playing with color and light. So if this piece of art appeals to you and you want to have it... let me know

MEET PINTO |
Imagine living with your family for 8 years and they leave you in a shelter?
| He is 58 lbs, very loving, and has made friends with his foster home's Dalmatian, "Charlie". In the beginning he was very depressed and mourning the loss of his family. He was not eating and he was suffering from shelter cough. NOW...he is healthy, adjusting to the loving care he is receiving and is ready for a family of his own.

On the Road Again
A new season arrives with more dogs
| Malley found his new home on St. Paddy's Day & is now called Finn.
|
March had us on the road again moving dogs into rescue... figures the more distant shelters are getting Dals now that gas prices seem to be going through the roof! Joining us in rescue are Daisy, Bobby, Brian, Pinto, Pink & Xander. Several of the dogs we took in are proving to be special needs with Bobby having some renal issues and Brian needing surgery for a torn CCL & hip dysplasia. Just the luck of the draw, burt we will do our best to get them well. Fortuitously, we had some lucky dogs that found new homes (some for the second time) and they are:
Jethro, Rosa, Sam too, & Malley plus
Louie on Orcas Island and Patches our courtesy post.
So for 2012, with 16 dogs carrying over from 2011 plus 2 dogs returned and one crossing the rainbow bridge, we have managed 16 adoptions, leaving us with the responsibility of caring for 25 Dals & dogs. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed. Our Dals & dogs still seeking forever homes are:
Pollyanna Canaan Betty
Buddy Daisy Duke Bobby
Pinto Brian Pink Xander
We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted!

Dottie Loses Her Battle with Heartworms
Simple prevention could have saved so much pain
It is with heavy heart we announce that Dottie, a December 2011 pull from Hillsborough County Animal Services who was being fostered by Sherry M., lost her struggle with heartworms. Her system finally collapsed under a high burden of heartworms that had already damaged her heart and she had to be released. The sad truth is that this did not have to be her fate if only her previous owners had kept her on heartworm prevention. Costs have come down with the introduction of many generic forms of prevention with Ivermectin-based preventions being one of the least costly (though not all breeds can tolerate it). While in many cases a vet prescription is needed, many of the areas low-cost pet health clinics can help you obtain a prescription at a reasonable price. Please, please, please, don't let you dog become a victim of heartworm infestation; while there are treatments to kill the worms they still do not have a treatment that can't kill the dog. DoGspeed little Dottie... run free and without pain over the Rainbow Bridge, we wish you had been able to stay with us a bit longer.
