Our DYO Rally to Rescue Rocked!
More than 25 dogs were adopted
THANK YOU EVERYONE for making our 3rd Annual ProPlan Rally to Rescue at Pet Supplies "Plus" in Pinellas Park our BEST Rally ever! Huge thanks go out to Pet Supplies "Plus" for their continued commitment to support this event with location and advertising... YES, there will be another Rally on January 19, 2013! Dave & the entire Pet Supplies "Plus" team are absolutely awesome! More thanks go to Purina & the Rally to Rescue program that has been so supportive of the efforts rescues make to save the lives of homeless pets. Thank-you to the vendors for participating in this event, we hope it brought you much needed exposure. Our most sincere thanks go to ALL the RESCUES & Rescue Volunteers that came out and joined us for this day. There were 27 individual rescues at the event & we hope that they found success for their cause in an adoption, donation, or even a chance at public education that teaches why rescues are needed.

Moving Forward into the New Year
Time & rescue never waits
 | Snoopy found refuge
|
January was a quieter dog month than our previous months. Besides managing the remaining surplus of dogs from 2011, we had some family sadnesses that occupied us. Rescue waits for no one so we kept working to get dogs into homes. The lucky dogs that found new homes (some for the second time) are:
Snoopy, Sam III, Kimber, Rush,
Max, & Dottie2
MaggieMae & Finster, Lee's dogs, who we had to board were sent to a good friend
 |
Great News... Ms. Dottie2 was just adopted!!!

of Susan's who runs a dog sanctuary in Texas. There they will receive lifetime-care and be able to stay together. We did take in 2 Dals this January, Dottie2 a senior that spent her time locked up in a bathroom after an owner sold the house out from under her & Widget an emaciated, confiscated dog in Pasco whose thinness seems to stem from more than simple starvation. We also said goodbye to our care-for-life Lulu Princess who recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge... her poor crippled body finally gave out. Thank-you Janet S. for making her last years comfortable & full of love. We have a few very special fosters that are willing to take the seniors, but we need more.

So in 2012, with 16 dogs carrying over from 2011 plus 2 dogs returned, we managed 6 adoptions, leaving us with the responsibility of caring for 29 Dals & dogs. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed. Our Dals & dogs still seeking forever homes are:
- PollyAnna: a smallish Dal-mixed gal from Americus, GA.
- Canaan: an 11.5-year-old Dal-mix gal with lots of life & spunk left in her.
- Misty Rose: our Citrus County abuse case Dal, now recovered, is ready for a home.
- Betty: a senior from Miami-Dade is in need of a CFL home.
- Ghost: a 3-year-old Miami Dal-mix missing an eye & due to have his damaged leg amputated.
- Anna Banana: a 9-month-old girl who needs surgery to repair her damaged knee.
- Chloe: a SC senior in search of a comfy bed by your feet.
- Buddy: a 5-year-old Dal/Lab-mix who is a mellow fellow.
- Dottie: a 4-year-old, HW+, Dalmatian female from the Hillsborough shelter.
- Jethro: a Dal-mix just arrived from Chipley, FL.
- Widget: an emaciated 6-year-old confiscation from Pasco County.
Additionally, there is a courtesy post for: We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted! |
Going to the Dogs
Where your donations have gone...
Once again, we are proud to let you know that 85% of your dollars donated to DRTB go directly to caring for the dogs we take in. However, we must let you know, rescue is not cheap. In 2011, our vet bills alone were $30,000. Our costs to board dogs was $10,000 even with the significant discount given to us by our wonderful friends at Paw Prince. So please consider becoming a FOSTER HOME... it's the only way we'll be able to continue saving as many dogs as we did this past year. Thanks again so much to everyone who donated and helped make 2011 a banner year for saving spots! We look forward to continuing on in 2012.
