Dog-isms:
| | The Creation story as told by Snoopy
On the first day, God created the dog.
On the second day, God created man to serve the dog.
On the third day, God created all the animals of the earth to serve as potential food for the dog.
On the fourth day, God created honest toil so that man could labour for the good of the dog.
On the fifth day, God created the tennis ball so that the dog might or might not retrieve it.
On the sixth day, God created veterinary science to keep the dog happy and the man broke.
On the seventh day, God tried to rest, but he had to walk the dog.

Hello Dal Lover!
The holidays are coming so we thought it would be an excellent time to restart our website's online auctions. We've got some really nice items like the blown-glass Dalmatian ornament at the bottom of this newsletter that would make excellent Christmas gifts. Plus, you'd be helping dogs like GHOST (see his YouTube link below), our latest rescue who was running loose for two years before anyone could capture him and his partner Lil' Man. They have both survived, but Ghost will need to have his badly wounded leg amputated and his missing eye sewn up. So please think of dogs like Ghost that you will be helping when you bid. Thank you from all of us at DRTB. Dal-loween Huge Success!
Fundraiser Will Help Save More Spots
OMG!!! We are just about speechless; you made our Dal-loween Celebration the most successful one to date! After all the tallies were totaled, we raised almost $5000 to keep us saving spots ... THANK-YOU EVERYONE!
We had another perfect day for our event in Lake Park. Bumper brought his firetrucks again this year; they really make a wonderful backdrop to our dogs. Susan, our founder, and Mary Ellen emceed while Lee provided music. We want to recognize Pampered Pets Gifts, Satauri Wood Working, Paw Prince, Josh's Firehouse Treats, and Susan C. with her Lucky Toss Game for their participation in making our day special. There was plenty of food & treats courtesy of Frank, Claudia, & George. Brenda Knoll was there again to take photos and Eve came to do Canine Massage. We also had Kimberly Leser from Gary Gero's Bird's & Animals Unlimited with Peyton a "Marley & Me" dog who showed his talents. We also want to thank Kathey for donating the cost of the shelter, Ronni for another generous donation in memory of Domino, as well as Sharon R & Shelby R for their equally generous donations. Of course, all the folks that spent so generously in our raffles and auctions.
Of course, what is Dal-loween without Contests & Games? There were some very creative costumes to be viewed. Our winners are:

- Costume Winner was Dan P's Pandora who was a colorful witch.
- Second place again belonged to Karen H's Benjamin, this year he was a bunch of grapes.
- Third place was the Gregory's Molly who came as a cheerleader for Team K-9!
Our game winners were:

- Pumpkin Dash - Dan P & his speedy girl Pandora.
- Popcorn Toss - was Sue F's Cali who did all Dal's proud.
- Bone Bob - Dick & Maureen's Lily who gobbled bones with abandon.
Our auctions & drawings were awesome; the silent auctions alone raised $1500. Chris C. won the 50/50 drawing and generously donated his winnings back to the rescue.
We also want to thank EVERYONE who brought donations to the picnic. If you have any pictures from this year's event please share them with us so we can get them up on the website.
Can't wait to see what we can do for Dal-loween 2012!
*Anyone who ordered a tee shirt at Dal-loween please email Pat at daldogevents@msn.com... the list couldn't be found in the packed up items :(

Thanks from the Dals
We Are Grateful for the Homes & Support You Have Given
It's that time of year we are reminded to count our blessings. We find we have been blessed with generous supporters, loving homes, and volunteers that put the dogs first. Our deepest thanks to all of you who make DRTB so successful.
Having got that said, our lucky dogs that found their new homes this month are:
Julius: an older Dal from Putnam who move to Georgia to join Jim W's pack. Teddy: one of the brother Dal-mixes from Pasco County got his new home shortly after his brother Ullee.
Kona: a cute 6-month-old from Greenville, SC who was quickly adopted into a family with her own personal little girl. Sarge: a year old deaf, but oh so handsome, Dalmatian found his special someone to address his specific needs. Teegs: a year old, Dalmatian lost boy who joins Hunter in South Florida. Pacer: a very senior Orlando Dal that found his heroes in Samantha & Charles also of Orlando. Dixie Carter: from Citrus County met her new parents at our Dal-loween event, we think she'll get spoiled rotten. Max: a very cheerful Dal-mix boy rescued from MDAS.
Also, Winston, a recent intake will be on his way to Niceville, FL Nov.2. Then we added five more dogs so our overall numbers are about the same as we think a few dogs are about to be considered care-for-life.
So for 2011 our totals are 75 more Dals/dogs that we rescued/helped beyond the initial 12 dogs we had from 2010. We have 60 adoptions so far this year and added 5 as care-for-life. We still have the responsibility of caring for 28 Dals & dogs of which ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed for us to continue to give these dogs the care they so deserve.
The Dals & dogs still seeking forever homes are:
- Tango: a 8-year-old Dal/Cattledog-mix boy with hip dysplasia who was returned to us, but now that he is back on his meds he is ready to be your boon companion.
- Phoebe: a 2-year-old, HW+ Pointer/JRT-mix girl from AL.
- Champ: a Dal-mix boy just arrived from Broward County.
- Kimber: Is back looking for a home with a taller fence... still a sweetie.
- PollyAnna: a smallish Dal-mixed gal from Americus, GA.
- Canaan: an 11.5-year-old Dal-mix gal with lots of life & spunk left in her.
- Sam (too): also from Pasco's shelter, he's a a 2-year-old "LabraDal" ready for his new home.
- Misty Rose: our Citrus County abuse case Dal, now in recovery.
- Betty: a senior from Miami Dade in need of a home.
- Charles: a 3-year-old, big Dal-mix that is pure love.
 |
Champ says, "Argh Matey, adopt me!"
|
Additionally, there are a courtesy posts for:
Maggie Mae: a 6-year-old Beagle/Boxer-mix Bentley: a young Lab-mix Luka: a female Dal-mix from Jacksonville
We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted!
