Something to make you Smile!

There was a Dalmatian named Spot,
Dalmatians get named that a lot,
Though would answer instead,
To Rover or Fred,
But mostly she liked the name Dot.

Hello Dal Lover!

Oops... it's happening again. A sudden deluge of purebred male Dalmatians are landing in area shelters. What did these poor lost boys do to deserve that??? We are doing our best to get these guys into foster homes, but we NEED your HELP to do that. Please consider volunteering as a foster or hosting a party to help us fund these wonderful dogs. Let's make this coming Independence Day a special one and celebrate it in Dally-style!

Our Hot Dogs...

Looking for Cool Ways to Beat the Heat

Simon

Simply Simon

Yup, we think our dog are hot stuff, but we all know that the summer heat can cause them harm. Please take extra care to prevent them from overheating by providing adequate shade and water, avoid strenuous exercise during the peak of the day, and NEVER leave your dog in the car alone!
We want you to have a fun & safe summer.

We have 3 dogs that are getting to enjoy summer in new homes. First is Jasper, a young Dal-mix from Pasco's shelter. Many Thanks to Shivana for letting us know he was at the shelter in need. Then Milo, our Hillsborough County save went to his new home. Mid-month we were notified that a senior Dally was in the Manatee shelter. Our Facebook friend Nicole A. had just lost her old Dally boy, leaving his 13-year-old sister alone. She stepped up for this senior boy, now named Walter David, and his life is now pure Dally bliss. We also added a few dogs this month with Kimber & Six
Kimber

Kimber has a lot of smiles for you!.

(Penelope) joining us from Americus, GA and deaf boy Simon joining us from Pasco County. Somewhere in between those dogs we managed to pull Tallie & Oliver out of Lake County's shelter when their owner landed in the hoosegow and kept them safe till an out of state family member could retrieve them. This month we have 2 Rainbow Bridge seniors, both Pecas Marie and Ollie crossed over after enjoying their remaining days with love, kindness, & a soft bed.

Our 2011 totals are 38 more Dals/dogs rescued beyond the 12 dogs we carried over from 2010. We have 25 adoptions this year and added 2 as care-for-life. We now have responsibility of caring for 33 Dals & dogs of which ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed for us to give these dogs the care they so deserve.

The Dals & dogs still seeking forever homes are:
  • Olivia: a small sweet girl from Jax who is ready for adoption, but maybe a home without cats.
  • Alanya: a big Dal-mix gal from Collier who is finished with HW treatment and ready for a new home.
  • Harley: a 8-year-old Dal/Cattledog-mix boy with hip dysplasia who was returned to us, but now that he is back on his meds he is ready to be your boon companion.
  • Freckles: a forced-surrendered, emaciated 7-year-old male Dal from Levy County who had just eye surgery for entropian and is now gaining some badly needed weight.
  • Blue: another forced-surrendered, emaciated 5-year-old male Dal from Levy County who is in heartworm treatment.
  • Bobbie: a 1-year-old girl with a shortened tail from Tampa who just loves people & has started her HW treatment.
  • Kahuna: a young mix boy from Americus that is "the perfect dog", but energetic.
  • Spirit: A tiny, senior mini-Dal male who loves laps!
  • Banjo: a sweet senior heartworm positive Dalmatian male in need of comfy home to live out his time.
  • Phoebe: a 2-year-old, HW+ Pointer/JRT-mix girl from AL.
  • Phantom: a Dal-mix boy from GA who arrived with the help of pilots Elliot & Ray.
  • Champ: a Dal-mix boy just arrived from Broward County.
  • Kimber: A young Dal/Pointer girl found stray in Americus, GA.
  • Penelope: a smallish Dal-mixed gal from Americus, GA.
  • Simon: a 6-year-old deaf Dalmatian boy that is sweet & shy.
Champ

With those blue eyes Champ is a knockout!

Additionally, there are 2 courtesy posts for:

We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted!

A Toast to Mary Ellen & the Dals!

Our 2nd Annual Wine Tasting a Success!

Mary Ellen rocking the room

Kudos once again to DRTB volunteer MARY ELLEN for making the "HAVE A SPOT IN YOUR HEART" fundraiser such a whopping success! The event raised $2500 much need dollars to go toward paying off Zippy's, now named KEEBLER, expensive ($3000) ACL surgery.  A lot of money for our small rescue, but he was worth it.

Paul

Our event was held in the Madison Community room in downtown St. Pete. Live music was provided by Paul & Dave Acoustic Classic Rock (available for bookings 727-398-2954). DRTB's Claudia made some scrumptious hors d'oeuvres for all to enjoy. Our bartender for the night, Tim, kept things flowing with wine & Terreo Sangria donated by Manes Imports. Our Mary Ellen was a fantastic auctioneer, encouraging those bids for the live & silent auctions, plus promoting the raffle ticket sales. Additional thanks go to Amy, Frank & Sherry for helping out at the event and to Alison B. for donating a Cabernet Reserve.

Magnum winner

Big winners of the auctions were Cliff A. who was high bidder for the TRADEWINDS RESORT weekend.

Alison B. won Dr. Adams Medi Spa Services and the McLaren "Margaritaville" bracelet. Nancy G. was top bidder for the Turquoise & Coral Necklace and Earring set also by McLaren, plus the custom elevated feeder. Jackie K. prevailed with her bid for the Magnum of wine donated by Luekens Liquor store. Jackie also donated a $100 gift certificate to Red Mesa Cantina which was won by Kathleen B.. There were 2 gift certificates to IC Sharks donated by Jim L., of which one went   Katie T. who donated private yoga lessons won by Mary F... There we lots of great items available so make sure you are there for our next event so you don't miss out on the good stuff!
