Another Dal Rescue SHUTS DOWN! Recently we received the news that due to lack of adequate finances,
Home Again Dalmatian Rescue in Alabama is closing down. Thanks to
Sandy B., our local Dal Retirement home, we are doing our part to help
by taking in 13-year-old Whisper from them.
Many rescues, which in turn means many dogs, are facing this same
fate these days. We are so hoping that with your continued support,
DRTB won't be one of them. I realize we sound like a broken record but
it's what we need to do to help keep the homeless and abandoned spots
alive. We get so many wonderful emails of how these dogs have enhanced
their new owners lives. It's hard to imagine any of them not being
saved with the love they have given.
If you can't donate money, please donate your time. If you can't
donate your time, a bag of dog food with help. Or just use Goodsearch
to help us raise funds. Or throw a party like Mary Ellen's upcoming
wine tasting to benefit DRTB. There are so many ways to help and we
need ALL of you to keep us running. And please remember that ALL of
your donations to DRTB go to the animals. The rest is done out of
love. Thank you for caring.

P.S. And a warm welcome to new foster homes Annette K. and Kathy
W.!! Two more adorable young spots have been saved due to them. |
Do You "Have a Spot in YOUR Heart"?
We told you last month that one of the best ways to help us was to throw a PARTY! Well, Mary Ellen has taken that to heart & is hosting the 1st Annual "Have a Spot in Your Heart" Wine Tasting & Silent Auction on March 27th at 7 pm at the Madison's community room. Why not come out for the event and bid on a 3 day/2 night stay at the TradeWinds Island Resort, a highly rated, pet-friendly, place to spend some quality time. We plan to have other items for bid & drawings too. Space is limited to about 50 so PLEASE RSVP to Mary Ellen at 727-453-0515 ASAP!

And On We March!
So we couldn't top last month's record 13 adoptions, however, we did manage several more adoptions. Molly from Polk found her new family while enjoying the Pet Fest at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival... even the Queen found her enchanting. She got wonderful new parents with a sister puppy named Bela to play with. Our bouncy Ms. McKenzie finally found her new home this month. We hope she gets to enjoy many car rides with them. Our final adoption this month is young Misty who will be moving to Clearwater to join Jennifer a first time dog parent.
So far in 2010,
we have rescued 13 new Dals/dogs beyond the 16 adoptable dogs we had from the previous year. One of those, Abby, will be staying with her family and another has just become a care-for-life. We have found new homes for 16 dogs of which 1 was a direct
referral to the shelter for adoption. Currently, we have almost 30 Dals & dogs
under our care. Those that are still seeking forever homes are: Pongo is such a happy boy.
- Biff a small, but lively
8-year-old Dal-mix

Cody a 9-year-old senior Dal

-
Amber from Lake County, a
Dal/Pointer-mix who just wants a lap & to cuddle
-
Buddy a 9-year-old Dal left
to die in a garage in south Florida

We list all our adoptable dogs on
www.Petfinder.com. We also have additional courtesy posts for:
Finster, a Rotty-mix, who
resides with Lee S. in Homosassa Springs JLo, an AmStaff girl, here
in the Tampa Bay area Magnum a nearly year old
Lab-mix near Jacksonville - Carter, a young American Bulldog, also near Jacksonville
PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs
with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get
adopted!
One sad final note: Tipper, Sherry's foster, who came to DRTB as a result of her owner's passing has also crossed the Rainbow Bridge. DoGspeed Tipper, you will be missed.
