Josie, for who we tried :"(

Hello Dal Lover!

Welcome to 2010! Who knew the economic challenges of past few years would still be with us and Florida would be a leader in home foreclosures? We are still resolved to help more dogs get their happy New Year "tails" and are thrilled for the dogs that got their new loving homes.

A big Thank-You goes out to Ronnie C. for her generous donation to help Samantha, to Cheryl W. for the wonderful blankets she made our seniors, and to all you supporters that help our spotted wonders.

"Thorns may hurt you, men desert you, sunlight turn to fog; but you're never friendless ever, if you have a dog."
From Susan to You...

Happy New Year To All Our Wonderful Friends and Supporters!

We close 2009 having helped 90 Dalmatians and Dalmatian mixes with your help. That's 90 lives that would have not seen 2010 had it not been for our wonderful foster homes and volunteers. But now they are all in loving homes or on their way to a new start. Many were seniors looking for just a place to rest their heads.

Wally, from Ft. Walton Beach, has the honor of being #90. He was a stray on the streets. Thanks to Laura and Luc for pulling him from a very crowded, overrun shelter and bringing him to safety at Karen H.'s great foster facility. He'll soon be neutered and placed on Petfinder where we know we'll find him a home for life.

Thank you again so much for your help and here's to doing just one more thing in 2010!

Susan

Wally
Merry Christmas to Us, number 90 just arrived at DRTB!

"Cheers to a New Year & Another Chance for Us to Get It Right."

Some borrowed words from Oprah with the ring of truth. We are hoping this year we can make it right for more Dals & dogs that need rescue. We had our share of successes this year. For 2009, we have rescued 73 new Dals/dogs beyond the 17 dogs carried over from last year making a total of 90 dogs whose lives were impacted by us. We have placed 61 dogs into new homes including 6 direct referral adoptions plus 6 dogs become care-for-life additions. One more lucky dog has a home awaiting her in the new year.

December was a busy month. Carly & Brian once again adopted from us after losing both Fig Newton & Tango this summer. Kaspar, the 5-year-old deaf boy from Tampa joins his new sister Olivia who is another DRTB save. Rouge a 2-year-old female victim of a divorce found her home with Rick. We also learned that old spot Spooky crossed the bridge. December also brought us six more dogs! Liberty began the month, followed by senior Samantha who will be a care-for-life, and just in time for Christmas we were gifted with Cotton, Chester, Katie, & Wally!

Cotton
Poor Cotton, how could we say no to this face?
He was down to his last day.

Currently, we have 32 Dals & dogs under our care. Those still seeking homes are:

  • Biff a small, but lively 8-year-old Dal-mix
  • Howie J. a returning 6-year-old Dal-mix who just loves kids
  • Cody a 9-year-old senior Dal from Polk County
  • McKenzie from Citrus County a bouncy, car-ride loving Dal/Boxer-mix
  • Amber from Lake County, a Dal/Pointer-mix who just wants a lap & to cuddle
  • Buddy a 9-year-old Dal left to die in a garage in south Florida
  • MilkNCookie from Jax is 10 years-old wants to be your best girl
  • Abby, a 7-year-old, very plump liver Dal-gal who needs more exercise than her family can give her
  • Apollo a 13-year-old senior from New Orleans who needs a home with no small creatures
  • Prudence a 7-year-old girl who with TLC is ready for a home of her own
  • Pongo a 12-year-old senior out of the Miami area
  • Liberty a senior gal found in Lake County
  • Cotton a shy 2-year-old spotted-mix from the  Atlanta area
  • Chester a young Dal-mix, HW+, male from Orlando
  • Katie a petite 1.5-year-old female Dal-mix from Tampa
  • Wally a 2 or 3-year-old boy from FWB who will be neutered soon.

  • Libby
Libby (Liberty) is so glad to be out of the shelter!

We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. We also have additional courtesy posts for:
    • Finster, a Rotty-mix, who resides with Lee S. in Homosassa Springs
    • JLo, an AmStaff girl, here in the Tampa Bay area
    • Magnum a young, small, & very cute Florida Brown Dog (Lab, SharPei?) near Jacksonville
PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted!
