A DOG'S BEST FRIEND
O Lord, don't let me once forget
How I love my trusty pet-
Help me learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard
Show me how to be a buddy
even when my sofa's muddy,
Don't allow my pooch to munch
the postal carrier for lunch,
Shield my neighbor's cat from view,
guide my steps around the doo,
Train me not to curse and scowl,
when it's puppy's night to howl,
Grant I shan't awake in fear
with a cold nose in my ear,
Give me patience without end-
Help me be; A DOG'S BEST FRIEND.

Hello Dal Lover!
Mardi Paws Parade in October!
That's
right, we're going to kick off our Dal-loween Picnic this year with a special
spotted parade. Why not? We've always considered our spots to be
special. So save the date now - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17th - and start planning
your best friend's costume. It will be lots of fun with prizes given for
the best costumes. Of course, there will be games, food, raffles, and meeting our

The Return of Howie J.
Howie J is a sweet five-year-old Dalmatian/Pointer-mix. Howie first came into
rescue four years ago when Dalmatian Rescue saved him from a kill shelter as a
seven-month-old pup. He was adopted by a family with a young child and had a
wonderful four years in his new home. However, his happy new life did not
last. Recently the family fell on very difficult times and had to make
some hard decisions, one was to call Dalmatian Rescue to see if they could take
Howie back and find him a new home. He is now back in the original foster home he
had four years ago and is enjoying playing with some of his old friends. Howie really want a home to call his own and is
now looking for a new family to love. If you like
running or walking, Howie would make a great companion. He would also do
wonderful with children as he loves to run and play. If you know ANYONE who could give Howie J his forever home, please have them contact us at [email protected]. |
Hot on the Trail...
May has come & gone leaving us full on into the heat of summer and with it the slower pace of adoptions. The past month was not without its share of successes or sorrow. Missy officially became Tracy D.'s best girl. We saw Limo go to a new home, though he has been separated from Luna who had been adopted the end of last month. Cruz joined Molly in a home with Julian A. & Mellisa D. which also includes a rabbit companion. Susie and her babies, Cricket & Clover, got new homes too. Susie found her home locally in Riverview. Her puppies are staying together, now renamed Agate & Jasper for their new dad's love of gems, they have their new home near Asheville, NC. Two courtesy posts got new homes this month. Bella, the injured puppy found her home & Molly in Gainesville was adopted. Our sorrow this month was having to say goodbye to Tango, the painfully arthritic Tennessee Dal, who recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. So far in 2009, we have
rescued 29 new Dals/dogs beyond those 17 we had from the previous year to include 2 dogs back in rescue.
We have found homes for 27 plus 4 direct referrals that resulted in
adoptions. Currently, we have 26 Dals & dogs under our care. Dals that are still seeking forever homes are:
- Oreo a loving, yet goofy, young Dal-mix from Orange County
- Eden a 9+ year old from Collier County now looking someone to call her own
- Sister a deaf girl who recovered from starvation and awaits a home where she can be the only dog
- Lady a 6-year-old overweight girl needing a home where she can become svelte again
- Spooky a very handsome senior boy found abandoned on Halloween
- Sylvester (or Sly) from Putnam County a very shy 5-year-old, liver boy just finished with HW treatment
- Biff
a lively 8-year-old Dal-mix
- AnnaMae a 5-year-old girl with a benign mammary tumor, soon beginning HW treatment
- Keller a deaf Dal-mix girl in nee of a special home
- Cocoa from Pensacola, just 2 years old, but in HW treatment
- Howie J. a 6-year-old with allergies
We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. We also have some additional courtesy posts for:
- Finster, a Rotty-mix, who resides with Lee S. in Homosassa Springs
- JLo, an AmStaff girl, here in the Tampa Bay area
- Callie, a Dal-mix, also in the Tampa Bay area
- Emma, a baby (3-4 mos) Shepherd-mix, who is with Jay C. near Jacksonville.
PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted! |
