For the Love of Dalmatians

Written by Glyn Bantock

For the love of Dalmatians, what can I say,
They're under your feet in everyway.
Bouncy n lovin', so full of fun
Everyday they just want to run.
Their big brown eyes that tell you they care,
And the feeling of love when they nuzzle your hair.
The Dalmatian you see is kind and sweet,
The kind of dog we all love to meet.

can you find the dal?

Can you spot the Dalmatian???

Hello Dal Lover!

The Dal-loween Festi-Dal was a great success, we saw many of our former rescues who happily have homes to call their own. Plus, we raised enough to save several more dogs! We are very thankful for everyone's help. In this trying economic period many more dogs will face the peril of shelters. So, as you give your own thanks this season, please continue to remember our furry friends.

"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. When all other friends desert, he remains."--George G Vest
Dal-loween a Howlin' Success!

Dalloween dog gathering
Thank-you everyone for making this year's Dal-loween such a success! We raised over $1500 to help us continue to save more spotted friends and we know there will be more dogs out there in need. A veryspecial donation was made by Kathey L., she donated a very valuable tennis bracelet to be used to raise fund so we can save more Dals like her Savannah who crossed the Rainbow Bridge this year.

Claudia & pals on the firetruckWe had beautiful weather for our day in Lake Park, the rain stayed away until well after the event's end. Bumper brought of his 2 firetrucks which made it easy to find us. We had food contributions from Sherry, Claudia R., Tracy K., Frank, & Papa John's Pizza so no one had to go hungry. Lee and his better half Rhonda provided music & microphone so Susan W. could talk herself hoarse as our emcee. Craig Morse was there autions & dogswith his Josh's Firehouse Treats & Tera Hamby of Pampered Paw Gifts brought some wonderful gift sets; both donated items to help our cause. We encourage everyone to purchase their products (links for them can be found under Benefactors). Rescue to Rally provided reflective collars & wristbands & US Bones sent bacon roll treats. We received some great donations for our auctions & raffles from people such as Carol Chretien, Alison B., Kathy Hill, Chris D., Pearl Paradise, Christine O., Carol Comer, Pupperazi, Dog Lovers, Eclection By Design, and many more. We want to thank you ALL!

a dally good timeWe also want to thank all those that brought donations of food & weight circles to the picnic. Special thanks to Pam & Ron for money collected by gathering cans, every bit does help. Just to put this in perspective: $1 will feed a starving dog for a day, $10 will buy a rabies shot, $30 will keep a healthy dog for a month, and so forth. Therefore, no dollar given is too small or too little, but sadly we will always have a need to raise more.
Giving Thanks from the Dals!

We are so thankful when we see a Dal who had arrived into rescue in poor condition leave to join their new family and be given the happy life they deserve.

This past month has been very challenging when several dogs we though had found their homes returned to rescue like doggy boomerangs. Each came back for a different reason, but it now puts a huge strain on our ability to foster any more. Returning to rescue was Perdita who was more energetic than her adopter's disability would allow; Poseidon similarly was too much for his adopter. Precious, now about ten, returned when her owner fell upon hard economic times. Buddy's return luckily led straight to a new home for him. We took in a second Dal called Precious who was found in appalling condition after a supporter responded to a craigslist ad. This poor, sweet, young Dal-gal was little more than skin & bones. We also believe she was beaten. From what we saw of her at Dal-loween she is receiving lots TLC from her foster family (Chris & Lou Anne) and is regaining the health & confidence she lost.

a starved precious

To date this year, we have rescued 53 new Dals/dogs beyond last year's carryovers & have been able to help 43 Dals get adopted into forever homes; plus we added 3 care-for-lifers. Our current Dals seeking forever homes are:
  • Tipper an 11-year-old lady that lost her home when her owner died
  • Oreo a loving, yet goofy, young Dal-mix from Orange County
  • Eden a 6-7 year old from Collier County now in the final stages of heartworm treatment
  • Sister a deaf girl who recovered from starvation and awaits a home where she can be the only dog
  • Tavish a 3-year-old, HW+ from Tampa in treatment
  • Jinxey a Georgia rescue now on Orcas being treated for mange
  • Lady who at 6 years of age overly enjoys her kibble & everyone else's kibble
  • Nash from Jax, a very handsome 3-year-old, but HW+
  • Clyde a 7-year-old surrendered sweetheart of a Dal
  • Precious a young fragile girl found in Jax who is getting much TLC to recover
  • Perdita a 1-year old young energetic Dal-mix
  • Poseidon a 4-5 years old handsome Dal
  • Precious (Sr) a loving 10-year-old lady now in need
We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. We also have a courtesy post for youngster Finster, a Rotty-mix, who resides with Lee S. in Homosassa Springs. PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted!

beachcombers What kind of trouble do you think these beach combing Dal pups are going to find with that crab?
