Dal-loween Festi-Dal is October 18th !!!
It's that time of year again when we
are focusing much of our energies on our Dal-loween fundraising event. We are hoping to make this year's event even more successful than last year. It will
again be held from 10-2p at Lake Park off N. Dale Mabry in Lutz at the Eagle Shelter. We already have promise of a firetruck to mark our celebration's location.
For this year's event we will hold auctions & raffles. Some items we have committed
are a Carol Chretien commissioned portrait, designer jewelry, and dining certificates from popular restaurants. Some of our benefactors have also pledged products for raffles &
prizes. We will have a pet costume contest and games to entertain. Josh's
Firehouse Treats will be there with yummy treats for our dogs & Pampered Paws Gifts has committed a beautiful gift basket, both are great stops to do some holiday shopping. We plan to have
human treats available so no one will feel unrewarded. Best of all, we will
have spotted dogs, including adoptables & adoptees, everywhere!!
Dal-loween is a group
volunteer effort so we need everyone's help to get this done. We need
volunteers who can print & distribute flyers. We need volunteers to help us
obtain auction & raffle items. If you see a product you like then ask the seller if they'd like to donate one for our cause. We will need volunteers to help run the event from transporting, set-up, venues, and clean-up. If
you can be of any assistance please email daldogevents@msn.com. |
We Keep Seeing Spots!
Another dog, another day! We are managing to
keep our spotted dogs on the move whether coming in to rescue or going to
forever homes. Orie & Spot, the two St. Augustine Dals whose owner chose
the seminary will be gaining a new home together (amen). Some of our newest spots to
reach rescue this month have been Angel & Kerry who both were quickly
adopted into loving homes. We also facilitated Freckles adoption. We are now working with Clyde whose owner requires our help to possibly re-home him. Our final rescue this month is Tavish, a 3-year-old HW+ boy from the Hillsborough shelter who Judy F. has graciously agreed to foster thus saving his life.
So far this year, we have rescued 44 new Dals to go with last year's carryovers
& have been able to help 36 Dals get adopted into forever homes;
plus we added 2 care-for-lifers & have 1 pending adoption. Our current
Dals seeking forever homes are:
- Tipper an
11-year-old lady that lost her home when her owner died
- Oreo a loving, yet
goofy young Dal-mix from Orange County
- Eden from Collier
County now undergoing heartworm treatment
- Sister who is recovering to go to a home where she can be the
only dog
- Tasha who is
almost done with heartworm treatment and awaits her new home
- Sebring (from
where else, but Sebring) who is a young, loving Dal-mix
- Poseidon a deaf,
very handsome boy from Clay County
- Halley a 2-3 year
old female Dal/Dachs-mix from Bainbridge Shelter
- Perdita a
1-year-old Dal-mix from Gainesville
- Tavish a 3-year-old, HW+ from Tampa awaiting treatment
We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. We also
have a courtesy post for youngster Finster, a Rotty-mix, who resides
with Lee S. in Homosassa Springs. PLEASE let us know if you can help these
dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get
adopted! |
Meet DRTB'S "Uncle" Frank
This month we want to introduce "Uncle" Frank. Frank N. has
been involved with Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay almost since its
inception. We made him an honorary "Uncle" since he has always
taken loving care of all the sanctuary Dals. Every week he would come
clean, walk, feed, and bestow lots of hugs on the spotted furries. And
with up to 27 dogs at a time, that's a lot of hugs.
No job is too big or too small for Uncle Frank. He transports from
shelters all over Florida, fosters, raises money, attends events, makes/posts flyers,
saves weight circles, and even bakes homemade dog cookies! When there
is a Dalmatian in need, Frank is always there. Frank is also a proud
foster flunkie. He adopted Petey, a Dal-mix from Citrus County, who he was
supposed to pick-up and bring to the ranch. That lasted for about 5
minutes and he ended up taking him home to be a brother to his adopted beauty
Spot.
We
all count on Uncle Frank to help keep DRTB going. There isn't enough room
in this newsletter to say all the good things we all have to say about
him. Frank's kindness has touched many, many spots. |
