Georgia is Always on Our Mind
Meet Georgia; she is our liver spotted, southern heartbreaker from a Thomasville, GA kill-shelter. Life hasn't been very kind to her. She had a big ulcerated tumor on the left side of her face that was a sebaceous adenoma (benign). The vet also found a heart
murmur and torn cruciate ligaments in both hind legs that make her run funny. She is also deaf. Georgia wants to be boss
lady with other dogs earning her the nickname "The Queen", but is very sweet with people. All this middle-aged girl really wants in life are her treats, to sniff
around the yard, and to have a soft place to sleep.
In addition to her other costly medical issues, just recently this hard luck Dal also was found to have lytic bone lesions on the other side of her head. While this kind of bone destruction can be caused by infection, vets in Gainesville think it is most
likely a tumor. There isn't much that can be done to treat her so Foster Karen H. has been caring for her until she can no longer go on or someone wants to give her a final home of her own.
We will stay committed to her regardless as one of our care-for-life dogs. If you can help us with her care please send or use the PayPal button to make a donation to DRTB for Georgia.
You can now meet our
care-for-life dogs on the website.

More Happy "Tails" for Some of Our Dals
After a year in foster care, Daisy and Pirate have
FINALLY found a home of their own!!!! DRTB's goal has been to keep this mother & son pair together despite heartworm treatment, altering, & a tumor removal. It is so nice when things end on a happy note.
In 2008 we have alreadywe have
rescued 21 new Dals. Seventeen
of them are already been adopted
into forever homes. In addition to Pirate & Daisy this month we have placed
Domino: a Dal abandoned to a Melbourne shelter, Luke: left at a North Florida
shelter now permanently adopted by Lee P. a long time DRTBer living in North
Carolina, and Sara: a Hillsborough rescue now in her forever home in Spring
Hill. You will see their stories on our website soon.
We still have other Dals seeking homes. Drago from Polk County who has completed his heartworm treatment & awaiting neuter, Patches a Dal-mix from Levy County, Sadie who has returned to DRTB due to family medical issues, Lady Girl who has begun her heartworm treatment, Tipper a beautiful senior Dal who wants one last home of her own, Freckles a young Dal-mix stray boy, 5-year-old heartworm positive Pongo from Clay County & Harley a Dal-mix also from Levy County. Art helps Dalmatians!
DRTB has been most fortunate to have Carol Chretien, a very
dedicated and talented artist, as a supporter. Carol lives in Massachusetts
with her own Dalmatian, Lizzie, who inspires her art. She is a founding member
of the Art Helping Animals organization of artists. AHA members "are both
totally and unequivocally COMMITTED AND DEDICATED to creating fine art for
supporters of HOMELESS ANIMALS" and "We work everyday to make something happen
for a homeless animal from coast to coast...one animal at a time if that is
what it takes as EVERY ANIMAL COUNTS."
Carol
is a very talented painter using oils to create many beautiful pieces of
Dalmatian inspired art, as well as other subjects. About her own work she says,
"Every single piece of art I create comes from the heart and has a portion
donated to rescue." A good number of these have been sold to help our own DRTB
Dals. Again, for this upcoming Dal-loween Festi-Dal on October 18th,
Carol will be donating a single-subject of the winner's choice, commissioned pet portrait whose proceeds will be donated
100% to DRTB. We are truly grateful for all that Carol has done for DRTB and
encourage everyone to check out her art at www.carolchretien.com. |
