PREPARING FOR TRANSITIONS

Graduation! What's Next?

    A Plan Is In Order.

Graduating from elementary school, middle school, high school, and college are inevitable milestones in students' lives. These transitions are marked by rising educational expectations and often times evoke a variety of emotions, behaviors, and concerns for students. Making these transitions with a plan will help students adjust socially, developmentally, and academically.

Research shows that preparing the student for the transition before it occurs, allows the student to address many challenges that lie ahead and help them be successful. A well designed transition plan provides students with opportunities, positive motivation, and a sense of belonging. Most importantly, it builds their self confidence.

The End Result's summer programs help students and parents prepare for these milestones through an individualized transition plan. We teach study, organizational, and test taking skills, fine tuning academic skills, and/or reviewing or previewing the academic curriculum, The End Result's programs are designed for every families' unique needs.

SUMMER PROGRAMS
The End Result's

The End Result's Individualized &

Targeted Summer Programs Close the Achievement Gap

The End Result's summer programs are designed to provide students with opportunities to catch-up, maintain their success, build new skills, and to get ahead. Summer is an ideal time to address past learning gaps which hamper students' abilities to be successful in future learning.

We have seen many successful outcomes with our programs. A summer 2010 Alumni, Mary was a 7th grader that struggled with math and science, and received poor grades during the school year. Mary attended The End Result's summer program for 6 weeks. The End Result's master instructor tapped into her preferred learning style. Together, they reviewed the previous year's concepts that she struggled with, and once ready, previewed 8th grade math and science to give her a head start in the fall. The program also focused on developing study skills. Mary continues to participate in The End Result's Train to Maintain program once a week. We are proud to share that Mary is graduating the 8th grade with honors--Congratulations, Mary!

QUESTION CORNER

I am deciding whether to give my son the summer off from academics, what are the pros and cons of this?

                  - Lori, parent of a 7th grader

While summer tutoring is a great opportunity, there are a couple of questions you should ask yourself: Will this be a positive experience for my student? Will this be a beneficial for my student?

Summer is a time to catch-up and to get ahead; students have eight to ten hours of free time. Tutoring is a great opportunity to fill in some of that extra time productively, and allow students to be taught through instructional approaches that are different from the classroom. A few hours a week can help students retain learning, and help them feel successful and motivated. Research tells us that even a small boost can make a big difference.

Some parents believe that their children need a break to unwind and to relax so they don't burn out. Tutoring is extremely flexible; students attend a few times per week and receive more benefits than they would if spending the entire week in summer school.  Additional research suggests that after a month out of school, only about 20% of what was learned is retained and that is not great news for any student. Boost your student's achievement during the school year, summer tutoring is the path to success, it provides your student with a balanced summer; fun and relaxation and a few hours of work and dedication.
