Sat Nam Beautiful Yoga Friends! Thank you to all who attended and added to the amazing energy at our classes in LA and at Give Yoga in Memphis. We so enjoyed meeting/seeing each and every one of you and look forward to K'Ying together again soon!
This past weekend we offered our 4th of 6 Teacher Training weekends at Give Yoga Memphis. This module was: The Healing Path. Healing ourselves and healing the world. We practiced techniques to increase our healing capacity and covered everything health, from diet to de-tox, natural deodorants to the doshas, teeth to tattwas, and vayus to vitamins!
A regular Kundalini Yoga practice along with a conscious lifestyle will always work to turn things around, because the ultimate definition of Kundalini Yoga is: What Works! It's simply a matter of being honest with ourselves to insure that we are not just going through the motions, but going through the devotions! It's also a matter of being patient. Once something manifests in the physical, it can take some time to turn things around. Always remember that cause and effect is an inviolable law and when we cause good effects positive outcomes are inevitable.
We are all in process and we are all on a healing path. There is no one answer fits all. No "ism," which is the ulitmate fix. As we progress through our lives we learn that it is important to be patient with ourselves and looking back, having solved the great riddles of life through all its up and downs, we turn out stronger and wiser than we ever could have been! If you are reading this you are on the doorstep of Destiny, and probably have what it takes to share the fruits of your healing path with others. The process of healing ourselves is the school in which we learn to help others do the same!

8 Ways to Up Your Healing Quotient!
We had such an amazing time healing with our group of wonderfully talented Teacher Trainees this last weekend that we wanted to share just a few of the healing keys we discussed. Kundalini Yoga and the Healing Path have everything in common. They are both based on the premise that each of us has the inherent birthright to be healthy and happy. Here are eight sure fire ways to blossom into healing!
1 ∞ A Daily Kundalini Yoga Practice
Kundalini Yoga tells us that certain things need to be covered every day so that as we live a day we don't age a day. These include: our spines flexed and aligned, glands harmonized, nerves strengthened, chakras balanced, toxins neutralized, energy levels optimized, and Spirit raised. You can do all this is just 15 minutes! Or, indulge yourself with up to 3 hours or delicious Kundalini Kriyas if you like! 2 ∞ Vibrate Your Life According to Yogi Bhajan: "A regular practice of listening to and chanting Kundalini mantras is not only good for practical, preventative self-healthcare, but also it will aid in the assurance of a healthier life. It can help preserve the body and pave the way toward a positive mental projection. Chanting or listening to a mantra will drive out depression and revibrate your life. It is timeless and can not be outdated. It has worked in the past, it works now, and it will work in the future. There is no time, no place, no space and no condition attached to these beautiful sounds. They burn the seed of disease. Use this technology everyday. Offer it to anyone. It has worked for three thousand years, why should it not work now?"
3 ∞ Breathe Baby BreathePranayam is a Sanskrit word which means literally to draw in life force. Conscious breathing is the ultimate superfood. It is living energy which helps us to regenerate and heal more quickly than anything. Of course Kundalini Yoga takes the science of breathing to the highest levels possible!
4 ∞ Popular Culture If we had to cite one supplement which could make the biggest difference overall, probiotics would definitely be in the running. Vegans will be glad to know that this supplement is said to help the body manufacture its own B12! In addition, probiotics help the digestive and elimination systems as well as the immune system. Most importantly it keeps candida at bay, and, hence, strengthens our systems while contributing to a clear even skin tone (gets the red out). Its recommended to take probiotics on an empty stomach but we believe it is also helpful to open a couple capsules into your morning smoothie and get the glow! Raw cultured vegetables (sauerkraut!) are another great way to get some probiotics like the pros!
5 ∞ Menopause MagicHere are Yogi Bhajan's recommendations for sailing through menopause or keeping it at bay: 1. Practice the 1 Minute breath (inhale 15 seconds, hold for 15 seconds, exhale for 15 seconds) for up to 31 min. each day. (This is taught on our Yoga Quick Fixes and Yoga House Call DVD's) 2. Eat more alkaline and less spicy food 3. 1 ounce yogurt (or soy yogurt) blended with 8 oz. water - for kidneys 4. Drink celery juice 5. Eat parsley. sweet potato. Water chestnuts. Beets (for hemoglobin). 6. Practice Sitali Pranayam (under "S" in the A-Z Health on raviana.com) 7. Regular practice of The Five Tibetans (as given on our Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond DVD) is really great to ease the transition into menopause. Consider doing it for 90 days or more.
6 ∞ Kundalini Consious Eating1. Try to find foods with the fewest ingredients on their labels ie., food in its most natural state. Avoid additives and chemicals and, as best you can, commit to a 100% organic diet. 2. Add some raw food to your diet: unprocessed, live, or, simply and aptly, high water content food. Raw foods increase the alkalinity of our bodies, provide essential digestive enzymes, and provide an on-going cleansing effect. Even adding a salad to each meal can make all the difference! 3. What you don't eat is as important as what you do: cut down or eliminate meat, dairy products, refined sugar, fried food, alcohol, carbonated drinks, black tea and coffee, pasta, white flour products. These are all acid forming foods which rob the body of health. 4. Consider adding a green juice or smoothie to your day! 5. Hydrate. Drink plenty of filtered water daily. 6. And don't miss this important piece of the puzzle! Proper Poorly combined food (starch and protein for example), as well as meat, may take 72 hours to be digested and eliminated. Vegetarian foods that are properly combined pass through us quickly (about 6 - 12 hours). A quick transit time for the foods we ingest is all important! Adding raw food to your diet will help move things along nicely!
Conscious Eating will help to keep us lighter and more pure and, most importantly, help keep us primed to do some Kundalini Yoga!
7 ∞ Emotion to DevotionAre you doing everything right but still don't feel as healthy as you feel you should be? It may be that there are issues on the emotional level vying for resolution. Want to get on the fast track for emotional healing? Try the So Darshan Chakra Kriya Meditation and/or the Sa-Ta-Na-Ma Meditation, both of which are on our Yoga Quick Fixes and Yoga House Call DVD's
8 ∞Karma Yoga How does this relate to health? This may be the most important item on this list! For healing to happen it's important to become less self-absorbed and more absorbed in the Self! When we become a conduit for healing we become healed in the process. Karma Yoga means selfless service. Like all yoga systems, it is a means by which we can practice being present. It is an opportunity to honor the Universe by doing our best and living with an Open Heart.

Noisy Neighbors Adrenal Fatigue
Hi, I very appreciate that you reply to requests for help, as you did so for me a couple years ago!!! I have been increasingly struggling for the last year or so (e.g., stressful new job; very constantly noisy neighbors so not able to rest/recover while at home, etc.). I admit that I have stopped both yoga and exercise because I feel so exhausted and numb all the time, with frequent pain in my lower abdomen. Thus far, medical tests don't identify any illness, so maybe it's just my body not dealing well with the stress.... I am trying to slowly add back in the breathing meditations, just as you suggest below. I will add the one mentioned below, and I was going to also try to do sodarshan chakra kriya for a few minutes every day as well. Are those good to start with? I just got your AM/PM yoga DVD. While I used to love doing the breath of fire, I am finding it a bit of a struggle. Should I push through it? Or keep it simpler for now? Sorry, as I type this, I feel like I sound so "wimpy..." that I can't seem to manage to force myself to do anything for more a few minutes.... Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! It does sound like your adrenals are shot. That is why it is so hard to get motivated for your yoga, etc. We suggest that you do the Hands Like A Teapot Breath Meditation on Fat Free Yoga for 3 minutes, and try to do a slightly longer meditation for 5-11 minutes twice a day. We suggest the Sa Ta Na Ma Meditation on Yoga House Call, or any Meditation on any of our DVDs which inspires you. Meditation will harmonize you and get you back on track. The important thing is to do it. Even if you feel agitated and resistant the whole time, it is still working. Also, don't forget that the quickest way to regenerate the adrenals is through conscious breathing. So try to do some Kundalini Yoga every day. If you follow these guidelines, stress will turn into blessings. It is a definite fact that when we raise our vibration, our environment transforms as well. That includes noisy neighbors! Good Afternoon! I was hoping you could help me on my Kundalini Yoga Path! I love your DVD's and was turned on to them by a healer maybe 4 years ago and have gladly adopted it as my main form of exercise. What I was wondering is about the lymphatic system in general or maybe hormones. I have noticed a lump on the outside of my underarm, its tiny and I can't even find it unless I am in the shower but I want it to go away without the help of modern medicine if I can help it! My chiropractor says its because I have had a cold recently and that it will go away when my sinuses clear up. I have food allergies as well and must avoid gluten and dairy so that I can breathe better :) I asked my accupuncturist about it and she said to get used to it since I'm at "that age" (34) and it has to do with women's hormones and the changes we go through every month but that still left me wanting to do something on my own to help my body out as well instead of just taking the attitude of a sitting duck! I don't even wear regular deoderant either trying to let my underarms breathe. I switched to the Thai Crystal but am having second thoughts about that as well!! Can you give me some advice of which DVD's would be good for my lymphatic system or boobies and lumps lol. I did notice there was some on Yoga Beauty Body specifically for breast cancer so you can bet I was all over that! I probably just need to scour your health archives again. Thanks for writing. For a great lymphatic system workout, we suggest, the Tiger Claws exercise on Kundalini Yoga for Energy & Super Radiance, the Awaken Your Senses exercise on Solar Power and virtually all of Kundalini Yoga Transformer. We also have an anti-breast cancer set on our Yoga House Call. You are right to be concerned with your choice of deodorant. They say "all natural," etc., but we do agree that you can't be too careful. Even though there is a pink ribbon on many "natural" deodorants, even the Thai salt crystal ones, we feel that they still may be suspect. This question came up in a recent Teacher Training and someone suggested lavender oil as a good deodorant alternative. As far as hormonal balance, we recommend that you keep up with Fat Free Yoga. Please note that 34 is nowhere near "that age," if you are doing a regular K.Yoga practice and are careful with your diet, "that age," will continually recede. PS. Many of us have little lumps and bumps on our bodies, it might just be a little fat deposit. If it becomes bigger, or tender, or itchy, you should probably get it checked out. Autism and Helping Others
Dearest Ana and Ravi, Your Dvds are just always what the Doctor ordered always. I hope that you a really having a ball making new ones!!!! A big question... How do you know if you are meant/destined to help someone through trouble?? Or if they are trouble and to stay away??? Any mudras??? Also I have two boys with Autisim, Do you know any Kundalini teachers who have autistic children as students??? What is Autism in yoga, is it a ego/chakra/center block. The Spiritual rule is that a person has to ask for our help, but there are ways to invite them to ask! During this process we can pray for them and set a good example. Re: 2nd question: We are not doctors but we feel that autism is a frontal lobe impairment. On another level, it could be said that the high level of autism in recent years is because a) scientists love their "syndromes," and b) many old souls are being born and the shock of the earth plane is proving a bit much. The answer is to be patient and loving and to keep mantra music playing in your household and, when they are old enough, teach them Kundalini Yoga. The Awaken Your Senses segment on our Solar Power as well as the ADD and Brain Booster segments on our Yoga House Call DVD would be great to share with them. Sending green energy and love your way! Grief and Siam Kriya Hi Ana and Ravi , What can you recommend for grief? My closest friend passed away on May 1 and although I truly believe she is safe and well on the other side, I am struggling to break through the anger and denial to reach sadness, then acceptance. Thank you. xo P.S. I have trouble doing Siam Kriya as given on your Meditation DVD. Can I have the back toes curled under instead? We are so sorry to hear of the sad news! The Sa Ta Na Ma Meditation is for emotional healing and helps us to understand on a very deep level that, "all things come from God and all things go to God." A 40 day practice, 31 minutes a day, dedicated to your friend would be really amazing right now for all concerned. Also, it may be that souls feel guilty about leaving here when people are grieving over their passing. The more quickly we can find peace, and acceptance, the more quickly they can go to their true home. Re: Siam Kriya, your modification would be a valid way to work up to the the pose the way its given. Maybe you could try both, hold for as long as you can with the top of the foot flat and then come down and start again with toes tucked. The poses (toes tucked or top of foot flat) do work the body in slightly different ways both very beneficial!

Meditation of the Month: Chow Pad Arti Pranayam
The name of this Meditation means: Breath of the Four Healing Stages, or "On the fourth step I find God." Sit in Easy Pose with hands in Gyan Mudra or in Prayer Pose. Focus at the brow. Long Light Breathing. Inhale think Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung four times. Hold the breath and think the mantra four times. Exhale as you think the mantra four times. Hold out, intoning the mantra four times. If repeating this mantra four times per segment is not possible at first, start at two or three and build up. Yogi Bhajan called this the highest form of pranayam. Each section of the breath helps us to access deep areas of the psyche, mind, and emotions. As we walk the ascending path of these Sacred Sounds, inner Awareness is ignited. In this Meditation we are breathing twice per minute. When we breath 8 times a minute or less we can attain a state of calmness and clarity. Our minds come under our conscious control and we attract peace and prosperity. Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung translates as: Sun Moon Earth Infinity. I am that Infinity I belong to and contain. Universal energies can be compared to the strings of a harp. This mantra tunes those strings so that everything inside and outside of us becomes melodious. |
