NOV.Happy November Dear Yogis! This month it will officially become "Holiday Season!"  We don't know about you but many people feel a rush of excitement and expectation at this time of year. The promise of the season: parties, presents and fun! Even if it usually ends up being more stress than fun! Of course, part of the thrill is the reminder of more innocent days.  But the Holiday Season is more than just an excuse to sit in front of the fire and eat candy out of our socks! It's time to connect, It's time to uplift. It's time to remember to remember that These are the Days of Heaven, and give thanks for what we have right at this moment. Happiness attracts happiness and if we can learn to be happy with our lives right now, the Universe will let us know that there is a whole lot more from where that came from! These words from a song by the Jeff Healey Band are especially apt: "Problems come and problems go / But there is something you should know / There are people in the world today / Who ain't got nothin' but hell to pay." Sort of says it all, right? When we are suffused with an appreciation of our own abundance and potential we can give, give, give, instead of spending our time worrying. Holiday Spirit! Give Yourself What You've Always Wanted
light leaves 'Tis the Season to Connect: Deep down, what we all really want more than anything is to connect with others and with our own souls. The true beauty in life is the moments of connection we have with other people. Slow down and don't miss out! I (Ana) used to time myself hiking up a nearby mountain. When people stopped to talk to me or to ask directions, I would keep moving as I shouted out replies, not wanting to lose momentum. Afterwards, i would usually feel a vague sense of guilt about my standoffish attitude. One day I decided to try something different. The next time people stopped to chat as I was hiking, I stopped, gave them my full attention and answered all of their questions: 'How far am I going?' 'Where did I start?'  'Where will I end?' 'How long is this hike' 'Do I do this often?' etc. I let them disconnect first and I continued on up the mountain realizing I had lost no momentum at all. I felt so much lighter. They were such lovely people who reminded me of my parents (we are all connected!), and they left that little chance meeting feeling that the world is a kinder, brighter, place and so did I!

All I Want for Christmas is a Six Pack (Abs!): Does it seem like the harder you fight to flatten your midsection the puffier it gets? Stop struggling. Consider asking the Universe to intercede on your behalf. How?  Through meditation.  It seems counterintuitive doesn't it? A better body thru...sitting? Sometimes what works is doing something radically different. If you are inclined, meditate like a Spiritual Athlete. Meditate once, twice, or even three times a day. Meditation quickly helps us to put the brakes on what's not working and redirects us to what does. Sometimes simply incurring less stress is the answer. Less emotional eating, less of eating the wrong foods, better circulation through the internal organs, better digestion, better hormonal balance. These are all things your meditation practice can do for you I'ts also a direct line to the Universe. We are all children of the Universe. Everyday is Christmas, Chanukah, etc. Try asking for what you want! It works wonderfully!

 

Break Out the Bubbly: This means your bubbly effervescent self. The you that gets attention. Put away the black garb and somber sensibility you may subconsciously use to shroud yourself. Put on some color, or otherwise adorn, and be willing to stand out in a crowd! Being shy is not only like slamming the door in your own face but like slamming the door in the Universe's face. Everyone is attracted to those who radiate originality. Don't be afraid to be the center of your solar system. If the sun can do it so can you! Oscar Wilde said "Be yourself because everyone else is taken." People are inspired by others who are not afraid to show their personal style. Sparkle and Shine and you will be fine!

Question Buddha  A Call To Stillness

hello, I've been doing your Meditation for Beginners & Beyond DVD and during some of the practices I get so ecstatic that I start wanting to rock back and forth. Is this okay?
 
Some people feel the desire to rock back and forth while medi- tating. In this tradition of Kun- dalini Yoga we encourage people to try to remain still while medi-
tating so that energy doesn't dissipate and  so that our nerv- ous systems can regenerate. One way to ground your energy when the desire to move occurs, is to put your awareness at your navel. When energy hits blocks in the body you might feel somewhat antsy. Stay steady and allow energy to gracefully move through those areas of blockage. This will result in more immediate and lasting breakthroughs and will help you to be strong and steady in your life.
 

                   The 18 Intuitive Gifts and Nine Treasures               
Hello! Ana and Ravi, I read about SO Darshan Chakra Kriya in the archive on your website. Can you please tell me what the nine precious virtues and 18 types of intuitive gifts, what Yoga Bhajan called, "Nao Niddhi Athara Siddhi" when he was discussing Sodarshan Chakra Kriya?

Furthermore, I have allmost all of your dvd's and they are SUPERRR GREAT! (performance of Ana, music, mantra's).I feel VERY FORTUNATE to have these dvd's!With Love from my Heart and Soul,

Thanks for writing. It's VERY IMPORTANT to point out that on the Spiritual Path these types of gifts are not meant to be ends in themselves. Throughout history when yogis began to develop "siddhis," (powers, as in the list below), they prayed to have them taken away so that they wouldn't prove to be a hindrance on the Path. It is true that dedicated practice of So Darshan Chakra Kriya and other Kundalini Yoga Meditations will amplify your talents and blessings. To use them for any other purpose than to heal, uplift, and inspire, is treading on thin ice.

The 18 Intuitive Gifts and Nine Treasures

18 Intuitive Gifts: 1. anima - to become very small 2. mahimaa - to become very large

I love your DVDs. They are like friends to me and I love to start my day with KY. Would still be very interested to know of a mediation that can help me be a better healer. I am back to doing So Darshan kriya daily. I had done it for about 140 days and then took a break from it. Thank you for all that you do and God Bless you both. 

  

We suggest that in addition to So Darshan Chakra Kriya, you try the All & Everything  Meditation on our Meditation DVD as well as Ganpati Kriya which you can read about under "G" in the A-Z Health Archive on raviana.com. Also, as you are working with clients try using the Healing Mantra which is also on our Meditation DVD, inhaling as you feel (mentally) Ra Ma Da Sa coming in through the top of your head, and Sa Say So Hung going out of your hands into the person you're working on. That's an extremely powerful healing mantra. Also: chanting Guru Guru Wahay Guru Guru Ram Das Guru (it's on our Ultimate Stretch Workout) and asking to humbly be a vehicle for Infinity to work through you is a very powerful thing to do. Meditation for Powerful Abundance

NOV.MED. Have your hands at sternum level, forearms parallel. Your left hand is
in a fist and your right hand covers your left. Your right thumb presses into the webbing where the left thumb and index finger meet.
 
Your eyes are 1/10 open looking down and in towards the tip of the nose.

Inhale deeply and chant the mantra Haree Har eight times. Inhale again and continue chanting Haree Har 8x per breath. Start with 10-15 min. and slowly build to 1-2 hrs. 

As you practice this meditation, you are literally dancing with the Universe. Your sound, rhythm, and resonance harmonize your life and the life of the world. Haree is the Creativity of Creation. Har is the Power of the Infinite. The number 8 relates to Infinity, fearlessness, healing, and energy itself. When times are tough get tough, sit down and take a stand against your mind's machinations and every form of self-imposed limitation.  Meditate and celebrate Spirit!
