It's full speed ahead every- one. Mercury is now direct and the planets are aligned in our favor. Yogi Bhajan said that the maxim for the Aquarian Age is, "Just start." So, maybe that means devoting an hour each day to that book you've been meaning to write. Or maybe you've been planning to upgrade your Kundalini Yoga practice by getting up earlier and doing a bit more. Create the time and space for your soul to shine through. Now is the time and the time is now! Don't enable yourself to not do. You have the energy and you are eminently able! So, go, go, go!

25 Random Things You Never Knew About Ana!
The transition from the Piscean Age to the Aquarian Age means we are going from "all about me," to all about WE. We are all in this together. No more secrets! 25 things lists are not only fun, they are the perfect vehicle for reminding each other that we're not alone!
1. I don't worry too much about being strictly a raw food person. Sometimes I like to toast my sprouted bread and steam my veggies. 2. As a brunette fav- orite colors to wear were skyblue, pink, & white. As a blonde they're bright yellow, green & white. 3. I feel that Kundalini Yoga is my 'secret weapon.' It continually helps me find new facets of my personality and expression. 4. I crave fresh organic berries every day. Wild blueberries handpicked by me top the list. 5. Dancing, whether I'm doing it or seeing someone else do it, is guaranteed to uplift me and make me smile and laugh. 6. When I did class presentations in my grade school the class would fall from their desks laughing over my "faces." which I didn't know I was making. People still comment about my faces. :p :o :p :0
7. In ninth grade my "best friend" told me never to tuck my hair behind my ears or I would never get a date because my ears were too big! 8. I lived in an apartment on L'ile Sant Louis in Paris during my modeling days. A charming little island right behind Notre Dame.
9. After each workout I do, I reward myself by practicing full "Dancer Pose." Its the icing on the cake!
10. I got into a random conversation about birds with a woman at a grocery store. I mentioned that I like owls but never saw one. Now every time she sees me she shouts, "Have you seen an owl yet?" It's a little embarrassing. :0 11. My first job growing up was picking dandelions from our lawn. I think I got about 25 cents for a hundred. My second job was serving pizza in a suburban pizzeria. 12. I love dandelions' sun-shiny yellowness. 13. I can finish the newspapers crossword puzzle usually without pausing. I look forward to the Sunday version all week. I also kill at Boggle, Bananagrams and Scrabble.
14. A favorite beauty trick is putting on a hair masque, wrapping my head in saran wrap and a knit cap and heating up with a vigorous KY set. It's my bionic beauty turban! 15. I can't wear jewelry. I feel like it slows me down. If I try to wear it I take it off without realizing it and then don't know where I left it. 16. I am suddenly and unexplainably in love with limes, and so have created an amazingly delicious smoothie we call Lime Lickey. 17. I am a strong tree advocate and am always giving the yard guy a hard time about the ones he wants to chop. He calls me the Queen Bee. 18. Promoting the rights of Senior Citizens is a cause I am passionate about. I wanted to start a foundation called SCALE: Senior Care and Love Evolution. But I looked up scale synonyms and found "horny growth" and realized we need a new title. 19. I have recently made friends with sauerkraut because its amazing for the stomach and health overall. 20. Every time I leave my mom after a visit I get terribly homesick for the next few days. At this point I don't think the feeling is ever going away. 21. I am upset they took Family Feud off. 22. I am a NY Yankees/Giants/Jets fan. 23. During my modeling days I never smiled for photos. I didn't know my smile was any good until Ravi insisted that I smile for the camera! 24. I was a happy kid and, in the small town I grew up in, the Mayor nicknamed me Smiley. Our elderly neighbor took it upon himself to remind me often that life "isn't a bowl of cherries. There are pits!"
25. I don't worry about pits.

This workout is for ALL LEVELS. It's fun fitness you will love for life! P.S. the music on this DVD rocks! Transform your body and beautify your soul! Kundalini Yoga Flow Bootcamp All-in-One Workout People are asking about the "Power Yoga" segment on this DVD. No, these are not your typical Sun Salutes with typical Warrior poses. It's a form of power yoga, Kundalini style of course, and even includes Breath of Fire in a few of the poses. It is designed to get you off the floor (where so many KY sets take place) and use your own body weight to warm your entire body, while giving you a beautifully balanced, muscular and toned physique. We did not invent this fusion of hatha flow and Kundalini! Yogi Bhajan himself taught KY this way with Sun Salutations before the kriyas when he first came to the West.. Note on Ringing the Bells of Heaven segment: This amazing kriya was taught by Yogi Bhajan to free up the neck and refresh our brains. Here is Ana talking about that set: "I got about seven minutes into the extended exercise called "Ringing the Bells of Heaven," when I felt a kind of chiropractic adjustment deep in my lower spine. It was a Wow! Thanks! I really needed that!" moment and I know that would have never happened if I hadn't "kept up" and done this sequence. This DVD reflects all of Yoga, Ancient and New! This total all-in-one workout not only gives you a longer leaner yoga body, but also a stronger cleaner yoga mind! It features Yoga Flow Parts 1 & 2, an amazing journey into the heart of yoga with Ana leading the way. This fusion between Kundalini and Power Yoga is a breath and movement strength building, flexifying, beautifying, age-defying all and everything workout. It's followed by Kundalini Core Power, Ringing the Bells of Heaven (Upper Body Tune & Tone), Deep Relaxation, Siam Kriya, an uplifting mantra chant, as well as bonus material, pre-sets, and the Matrix Menu option. The bootcamp concept means that in "keeping up," you deliver yourself to greatness, transform your body and mind, and rewrite the book of your life. This workout is for ALL LEVELS. (amazing music too!) |

Q u e of s t the i o month n s
Belly Fat Good Morning, I appreciate your ideas and suggestions. I'm currently teaching a beginning yoga class. I have found that most people have not only challenges losing pounds, but also challenges with belly fat. Can you suggest exercises and some lifestyle things that would help people deal with this. Thank you for your help. Thanks for writing and congratulations on teaching beginners Kundalini Yoga! Individual exercises to reduce "problem areas, are: Bow Pose with Breath of Fire, and the "Five Tibetans," exercises on Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond. Overall, it's best not to think in too literal terms, i.e., individual exercises for reducing "belly fat, because what's special about Kundalini Yoga's is its multi-dimensional approach. A regular Kundalini Yoga practice, reduces belly fat because: 1. In redressing stress it helps the adrenals produce less cortisol (which creates belly fat). 2. Through its work on the glands (Fat Free Yoga) helps the body achieve it's natural set point and excess fat will fall away. 3. In allowing energy and circulation into so called "problem areas," "amoring," (emotional buffering, i.e., excess fat) is reduced. 4. In working on the emotional level, people can control the tendency to "push down, emotions by overeating. 5. And of course K. Yoga does burn calories (about 450 an hour or more). 6. One's whole metabolic process is based on oxygen in and carbon dioxide out. Kundalini Yoga's liberal use of breathing speeds up the metabolic processes. We also recommend a good amount of work on the Navel Chakra (Navel Power). When it's strong we can set an intention and stick to it more readily. It's personal power and will. Belly fat often occurs when one's liver is overtaxed or toxic. We recommend our Yoga Cleanse DVD. Ways to help the liver are to: eat smaller portions, eat light at night, stay away from alcohol, sugar, and excess carbs. Also, when inner anger is an unresolved issue, as it is for most people, the liver is often compromised and weight gain occurs. We recommend the So Darshan Chakra Kriya Mediation which is taught on both Yoga Quick Fixes and Yoga House Call. We hope this was helpful and that you have much success with your teaching. We wish you joy, health, and blessings!
Upset About the Title: Fat Free Yoga That you are teaching anything called fat-free yoga has nothing to do with the deeper teachings of yoga and perpetuates our society's continued objectification of the female body. It also supports the idea that women are somehow "wrong" if they have fat on their bodies. Yoga is a practice of ahimsa and self-acceptance and the offerings of this email are offensive to me as a practitioner and a women. Thank you.
We are sorry to hear that you found our title Fat Free Yoga offensive. That title was conceived of to address the concept of reducing, in a sort of light-hearted way. Ravi had a video called Fat Free Yoga in the 1990's. The term "Fat Free" then, was both fad and cliche. Many people often arrive at their first yoga session with a top priority being a better butt or flatter belly. What opens our hearts as Teachers, is not what initially motivates a person, but the fact that, against all odds, they've have made the decision to do Kundalini Yoga. A student of ours' once wisely stated that he felt Kundalini Yoga is the most direct route to Spirit. So, even if a person just wants to lose a few pounds, through a Kundalini Yoga practice, they inevitably also connect with their soul and open themself to whole new worlds. It is a conscious decision on our part to brand our products in a way that will inspire people to delve into Kundalini Yoga. It has been our experience that presenting our material in an accessible way means the difference between reaching 100 people and 100,000. It is a Tantric endeavor to maintain the integrity of the teachings while making them fun and accessible to all. We wish you joy, health, and abundant blessings. Question About Our Transformer DVD thanks for sending the vids. May I ask about a couple of things from the transformer? You mention emotional scarring from birth trauma at one point. Can you explain a little? Also, what is arc line? You guys take it easy. bye, now, Thanks for writing. Re: Birth Traumas: To come from a warm and peaceful place and be thrust into this noisy earth plane is pretty traumatic for everyone. Most people spend a lifetime trying to deal with the trauma of the first few minutes of their lives, not to mention all the other traumas which follow. Yoga and Meditation are powerful tools to turn the tables on all of that. The stress caused by traumas is not only a product of memory, it's a defensive stance adapted by every cell (to guard against it happening again). The old movies of our lives are stored holographically in our bodies, and psyches, and effect the energy templates which are the works in progress which define us. Kundalini Yoga is meant to be a daily practice because it is the most effective means by which we can filter the massive onslaught of information and impressions assailing us from all sides in addition to what's already been stored. Kundalini Yoga's combination of breath, sound vibration, movement, and energy flow optimize the present, pave the way for a brighter future, and redeem everything which came before.
The arcline is, according to yoga, an aspect of one's energy field (aura) which arcs from ear to ear across the hairline. It is the beaming power of the mind (mental focus and prayer) and is a kind of life radar which helps to refute negativity and provide information to help protect us. When the arcline is strong a person has a kind of invincibility. Our Kundalini Yoga Transformer DVD has techniques which constitute a sort of "rebirthing," so that we can be new everyday. It also has exercises/meditations which strengthen the arcline. We wish you joy, health, and abundant blessings!
Needs to Get in Shape by June Greetings Ana and Ravi from Ottawa-- I know this sounds shallow, when people have so many other deep issues, but I really need your help. I have a wedding to go to in June in my home town and I have sort of let myself go. I really want to make a good showing, plus my old boyfriend is going to be there (who I still think about) and I can't let him see me like this (I've gained 30 lbs.). What can I do to look good in time??? I really, really, appreciate you guys taking the time to advise me. I have 3 of your DVD's and I work out with you two every day. Thanks for writing. Your situation is a blessing in disguise because life challenges provide opportunities to make the types of breakthroughs we otherwise couldn't have made. We have to start by saying that it's really not healthy to set three month deadlines for oneself with regard to getting in shape. Also, your words, "...look good in time," need to be addressed. You may be judging yourself based on an articficial, media-driven concept. We would suggest that you look good now! Crash diets and fitness programs are not based on realistic principles. That said, we think that if you apply yourself, you will be able to lose 15-20 lbs. by June. In addition to what we recommend below, if you work on your posture/alignment and aura as well, you will be looking and feeling amazing by wedding day! The first step is to honestly assess what lead to you, 'Letting yourself go.' Was it stress, emotional issues, depression. For successful slimming, it is imperative that we work from the outside in and inside out simultaneously. So here's what we recommend: Start your day with a brisk 20 min. walk followed by practicing one of these DVD's in their entirety (alternate each day): Kundalini Yoga Cardio, Stretch, & Strengthen, Warrior Workout, KY Yoga Flow Bootcamp, Dance the Chakras, Navel Power In the late afternoon or early evening, after another brisk walk, practice one of these each day: Fat Free Yoga, Yoga Cleanse, Kundalini Yoga Transformer, Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond, Kundalini Yoga Body Electric More often than not, excess pounds, are a form of emotional armoring. We suggest a daily practice (after your evening yoga practice) of the Sa-Ta-Na-Ma Meditation. This one is taught on our Yoga Quick Fixes and Yoga House Call We suggest a 30 min. version of that meditation (5 min. chanting out loud, 5 min. whisper, 10 min. in silence, 5 min. whisper, 5 min. out loud) follow by 1 min. of meditating in silence. We suggest that you practice Ungali Pranayam (see below) after your morning yoga. For a diet on a deadline (we don't normally recommend this approach), down-size your portions or, cut them in half. Also cut out all unhealthy carbs, sugars, fried foods, and dairy products. Make sure your glycemic levels are balanced, and be sure that your diet includes many enzyme and water rich foods. In the morning consider starting your day with a large raw protein smoothie (see our A-Z Health Archive for a basic recipe). In the evening make a large salad your main meal a couple times a week. You can throw in hemp seeds for protein and some healthy fats such as avocado and olives. Chewy dulse (seaweed) is another nice nutritious addition. And measure out a modest portion of healthy dressing to top it off. Please keep us posted! |
Breath Meditation for a Sleeker You
This powerful technique is called Ungali Pranayam and is the perfect practice to reduce in Spring.
Sit in a meditative pose and focus at the Third Eye. Inhale in 15 successive "sniffs," and exhale in 15. On the first 15 part inhale, think SA for each of the breaths. On the 15 part exhale, think TA for each of the breaths. Then think NA on the 15 part inhale, and MA on the 15 part exhale.
You can break the rhythm into three groups of five to keep count. Start with 3 min. of this practice and add 1 min. per day until you get to 31 min.
Yogi Bhajan cited this as a good slimming technique because of its work on the glands. When he first taught it, he mentioned that it would be good to do in conjunction with a steamed greens fast. Springtime is the best time to try a "mono diet." That entails eating the same food everyday. This might consists of steamed beet greens or steamed daikon radish. This puts your body in cleansing mode, but keeps things moving through (so you don't need colonics as in a traditional fast). Many people don't have the psychological temperament to fast, or find that their blood sugar gets too low. A mono diet is the perfect alternative. Remember, how you ease into a cleansing diet or fast and come off of it, is more important than the fast itself! Always enter into fasts or cleansing diets with the proper guidance.
