Sometimes DVDs just come together and it's pure poetry!  That's how we feel about these two new titles!  We had a blast doing these work-

outs ourselves during the editing process and we fine tuned them based on our experiences.  We both love a good challenge because that is how we get results, grow, and stay excited and inspired to do a daily practice! We made sure these not only continually challenged us but were doable for anyone.  Of course, we also love a high fun factor and great music so that's included too! We advise everyone to embrace this challenge, do these workouts, and get back to us on how you do!  Let's all grow together! Happy February everyone! This months focus is on  SUCCESS! Against all odds, finding a practice as powerful as  Kundalini Yoga and making it part of your life, makes you, in the greater scheme of things, as successful as a human being can be! 2011 Retreats & Training


Last year we introduced our very first retreats and were lucky and blessed to discover three very special locations! We had such an awesome time at each of these that we immediately booked for this year! So, now we can announce our second annual Dahlonega GA retreat in July, as well as our second annual New England Yoga Retreat in Chester, CT.  Check the  tour schedule on raviana.com for dates and details. Trust us - you don't want to miss these!  Also, we're happy to announce that our next 200 hr. Teacher Training will be in Naples, FL. starting this Fall! 15 Things You Never Knew About Ravi


1. My nickname in high school was Buddha.  

2. I gave a poetry reading with Allen Ginsberg in NYC in 1987.

3. While driving home after my first Kundalini Yoga class in 1971, I had to pull over to the side of the road because colors were so bright. 

4. I was on Regis Philbin's show pre Kathy Lee.  

5. Hot dogs were the last meat I almost ate. Cooked 'em and promptly tossed 'em when I had a sudden epiphany at age 19. 

6. I never get tired of listening to the album "Lion" by the Black Crowes

7. Along with Gurmukh, I was one fo the original founders of Golden Bridge Yoga Center in LA in 2000. 

8. I wore a turban from 1977 - 1999.

9. I practiced the So Darshan Chakra Kriya Meditation  (under "S" on the A-Z Health Archive on www.raviana.com) at least 62 min. per day for 16 years .My current Kundalini Yoga Meditations of choice are Ganpati Kriya (under "G" on the A-Z Health Archive on www.raviana.com) and chanting the mantra:  Har Haray Haree Wahay Guru 

(up to 2.5 hrs. per day).

10. In 1981 I won the Kundalini Yoga Olympics at the Summer Solstice event in New Mexico. Events included the most Frog Poses in 3 min., holding Stretch Pose and Wheel Pose as long as possible, the longest "Sat," of a long Sat Nam, etc.

11. I love to teach and during the 80's and early 90's in NYC I was giving up to 8 Kundalini Yoga classes a day.

Note on Ringing the Bells of Heaven segment. Did you know that most people have limited circulation to their brains because their cervical vertabrae are chronically out of alignment. Another factor which limits blood flow to the brain is calcium deposits in the neck and shoulders. This amazing kriya was taught by Yogi Bhajan to free up the neck and refresh our brains. Here is Ana talking about that set: "I got about seven minutes into the extended exercise called "Ringing the Bells of Heaven," when I felt a kind of chiropractic adjustment deep in my lower spine. It was a Wow! Thanks! I really needed that!" moment and I know that would have never happened if I hadn't kept up (ha!) and done this sequence.  P.S. The music on these rocks!

Hello Ana and Ravi, This is more a question about your own personal journey. I think that it's great that you've achieved success with your dvds and are well known on an international level, so I am wondering if you feel any particular mantra or kriya helped get you guys to that level of success. Was there anything in particular that you were working on to get to this stage? I would like to hear a bit about your own personal journey to success. I am sure KY played a role in it and wondering how and to what extent. thanks


Very few people ever feel that they are as successful as they could be because once you have attained a certain plateau, you are already looking beyond it.  That human trait is both a cause for suffering (an unsettled mind is never satisfied), but also for powerful growth and expansion. Nevertheless, we feel that there is a cause and effect calculus re: success.
 
The most important thing is to be doing something that you love and believe in, and to get behind that 120%. Co-equal with that is to try to make everything you do a yoga exercise. Bring your whole being to that thing, even if it's just mopping the floor. That inspired intentionality will suffuse everything you do with excellence. If excellence is your standard, you may not get immediate recognition from other people, but the Universe will honor you and that's what counts. The Universe is the Bestower of blessings,abundance, and gifts of Grace. 

The practical formula for success is to bring all the chakras into play (which is what Kundalini Yoga does):

1st Chakra for determination and authenticity (the thing that makes you you)

2nd Chakra for fluidity and being open to change and to keep reinventing yourself. Be willing to let go of what doesn't work. Also, a constant flow of creativity. 

3rd Chakra for energy, personal power, fearlessness, and to jump on opportunities    when they present themselves. Also to turn anger into inspiration.
4th Chakra for expansion and the realization that the impossible is possible.
5th Chakra for manifestation, self-knowledge, and for asking for what you want.
6th Chakra for clarity, focus, intuition, and timing.
7th Chakra for grace.
8th Chakra Your radiance opens doors, endears you to the world, and aligns things in your favor..

Amazing tools for success are: conscious breathing, a pre-dawn practice, sharing what you have, and any number of the specific techniques in Kundalini Yoga for prosperity, etc. We've been doing the mantra Har Haray Haree Wahay Guru. It seems to be working! Also, the Ap Sahaee Hoa Chant on Dance the Chakras Yoga Workout is incredible for prosperity. P.S. Many people put up roadblocks unconsciously and block their own way. One should not neglect the power of So Darshan Chakra Kriya to "kick out the jams!" (It's on Yoga Bliss Hips, Yoga Quick Fixes, and Yoga House Call. Also, if you keep working on yourself, live your life in a way that conserves energy (except when it's time to act), keep your karma clear, and maintain conscious reverence for your craft, sooner or later, the tide will turn in your favor. This is inevitable. Chakra exercises on Our Journey thru the Chakras DVD as well as the Meditation on Navel Power will be very helpful.  


                                 Friend With MS


I have a friend who has Multiple Sclerosis and I would greatly appreciate any words of wisdom anyone has. He was fairly fit before this came out and is in his 30s. He hasnt done yoga before but willing to try anything. Many thanks


Kundalini Yoga would be the best thing your friend could do. Very often conditions like MS crop up later in life due to the cumulative effects of environmental toxins (of course, susceptibility to MS can also be genetic). Even if one has a pre-disposition for something this serious, a committed Kundalini Yoga practice combined with a healthy lifestyle can keep it dormant. In cases like this it's important to be a detective to see if there may be an external cause. For instance, your friend should be checked for silver fillings which contain mercury (if fillings are removed, make sure a that a dental dam is used). Very often on one's healing journey, extreme circumstances such as this set the stage for the self-discovery of something like Kundalini Yoga and healthy lifestyle choices which make all the difference. The greatest gift you can give to this person is to share your KY practice with them. Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond, Yoga Cleanse, Fat Free Yoga, and Warrior Workout   

would be great places to start.  

                                                 

                                            Help!


Namaste, Please, please, please help me. I have loads of KY dvds of yours and others KY dvds. I read about KY and I very occasionally practice it. I can't seem to make my practice regular. I am a full time working Mum with children and husband that works shifts. I would really like to practice in the AM but cannot get out of bed!! I know all the wonderful benefits of KY and I do suffer with my digestion which I feel is one of the reasons I feel tired all the time. I have all the intentions and speak about yoga all the time but why can't I get round to doing it??? I feel really silly writing this as I don't know what you can say really I think it is all for me to sort out; but any words from you might give me the willpower or determination I need. Thinking about it I find it difficult to maintain any routine. Obviously, because of this I am a beginner. Thanks for listening.


We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing a life challenge. There is definitely a way through this! It would be very good if you focused on your Navel Chakra which gives one the personal power to overcome obstacles such as you describe. Also, a weak digestive system would also tie in with a Navel Chakra needing work. Our Navel Power DVD is a great way to work on the Navel, along with the Navel portion of A Journey thru the Chakras

 

It will also be very helpful if you were careful not to eat after 8 p.m. Our adivce is to keep your intention strong and commit to getting up and doing at leat 15 min. to begin. Give yourself the option of going back to bed if necessary, but commit to getting up and do at least 15 min. of any portion of our DVD's. Another way to ease into a practice would be to just sit up in bed and do a breath/meditation practice (see Meditation of the Month below)  Many years ago when Ravi was having trouble committing to an early morning practice he used this meditation to get back on track. Doing a morning Kundalini/Meditation practice will not only bring blessings to you, but to you whole family and your example will be a source of great inspiration!  Remember, as Ana says, "It doesn't have to be all or nothing.                           Meditation of the Month:  

                   The Sword of the Five Elements


This powerful meditation will remove inner anger (one of the prime roadblocks on the road to success) and attract prosperity. Sitting in easy pose, Focus at the brow. Inhale in 4 equal sniffs through your nose, turning head left/right/left/right. Then, face forward and chant:  5 times: Har Har Wahay Guru.

ana meditatingApply the 5 repetitions of the mantra to each of the chakras, progressively up the spine:

1st chakra - rectum (earth)

2nd charka - pelvis (water)

 3rd chakra - navel (fire)

4th chakra - sternum (air)

 5th chakra - throat. (ether)
 
11 - 31 min. (or more) On Har, your mouth is open as if in a 3/4 yawn. Only the tongue moves, not the lips. It sounds like "huh-d." Pull your navel slightly as you chant Har.

Har means the power of the Infinite. Wahay Guru is the Wisdom and Ecstasy which brings us from darkness to light.

When the elements are in balance we are "in the flow," of life and the Universe. We are protected form misfortune and mishap. Chanting Har stimulates the hypothalmus which controls the pituitary and pineal. The interplay between these is the dance of Shiva and Shakti and leads to an experience of vast horizons. Wahay Guru magnifies blessings and helps us to tear through the dark veil which keeps the light of the Infinite hidden. When that is revealed everything in our lives is illuminated.
