NEWS & NOTES

We hope you enjoyed a wonderful Holiday Season. We want to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and inspired New Year!  2009 is an "11" year. 11 is the number of Spiritual Mastery. Mastery is a day to day affair and it lays the groundwork for happiness. It could be said that happiness comes when our minds and souls want the same thing. Our souls want to feel infinity and our minds want direction and peace. These type of concepts may seem understandably vague to you. That's where Kundalini Yoga comes in. Kundalini Yoga is a technology which can help you stay healthy, and keep you elevated. It's comprehensive and complete.

Every success story starts with a courageous decision. Make the commitment to yourself to be steady in your practice and maybe even to expand your practice. Your current safe boundaries were once unknown frontiers. Maybe now is the time to extend out and create new boundaries for yourself. Maybe start with a daily 11 minute meditation in addition to your yoga practice. Maybe transcend your fear of public speaking and give a Kundalini Yoga class to friends and neighbors. There is a great longing currently in our culture. Many people's sensory systems are on overload. Lots of information but no peace. Lots of stimulation but no elevation. As many of you have verified through your experience, Kundalini Yoga is the right thing at the right time.

We have created our new DVD's with this year in mind. We've designed them to work on all levels for all levels. Our key phrase for these titles is: Total Fun Fitness! We're also excited about the great new music on these. Our musical genius Tom Carden has really outdone himself this time. We also want to welcome another genius to our team: our French video editor and sound designer Marc Minot.

Yoga for Beginners & Beyond: Stretch, Strengthen, Be Stress Free!

is the best of both worlds:  Kundalini Yoga's dynamic aspect with the focused intensity of power and ashtanga yoga. This one has many bonus features including chair exercises, a posture primer, a set for back health, and more! Much of this DVD is perfect as a pre-natal workout. If there are people in your life whom you feel can benefit from Kundalini Yoga, this would be the perfect introduction. But don't think this one's too easy if you're a seasoned practitioner. We promise you'll get a great workout from this one and feel totally inspired.

Kundalini Yoga Cardio, Stretch, & Strengthen

is also the best of both worlds: an amazing Kundalini Yoga set with its spiritual depth and power as well as a complete fitness experience: stretching, in-depth ab work, an effective and fun dance-influenced cardio routine (along with standing warm-up and cool down segments, an amazing Kundalini Yoga Kriya which will simultaneously tone your upper body and open your upper chakras, as well as a beautiful musical mantra chant. This one has something for everyone.

Kundalini Yoga for Energy & Super Radiance!

Live on fire and shine like the sun! This is a Kundalini Yoga old school workout with cutting edge music and more. It's been said that heroes and warriors are regular people who, when called upon, commit themselves to 5 minutes more. This one features a complete whole body workout including some extended exercises which will test you and bring out the best in you. In addition to Tom Carden's great music, this one features a rock anthem version of Jap Sahib, a warrior hymn from the Sikh tradition.

Please follow the links to Amazon.com to read more about these. We will be selling these exclusively on Amazon.com. We plan to ship these titles to Amazon on  January 20th (which is when we'll be sending review copies to those of who who we've contacted), but it is possible to pre-order now!  Amazon.com is currently offering these titles on sale for $14.49! All 3 for $43.47
Top Ten New Year's Resolutions

1. Commit to daily Kundalini Yoga & Meditation (even if you only have 15 minutes!).
Even a little bit every day will empower your producivity and relationships, and the overall cumulative effect will propel you to new and exciting levels by this time next year.
2. Early to Bed & Early to Rise (less PM TV can become more AM meditation!).
3. Start new projects and see them through (just do it!).
4. Keep your focus. Expand your concepts. Do what's hard until it becomes easy.
5. Create a healthier lifestyle (even adding an air purifier to a room can help).
6. Pray for peace and be proactive (live your prayers!).
7.  Do less and get more done (see Navel Power  and Fat Free Yoga!).
8. Focus on what you have instead of what you want: be grateful (luxuriate in the fullness of the present moment).

***QUESTIONS OF THE MONTH***

Mantra Tears

Hi, I only have three of your discs beginners and beyond, navel power and ultimate stretch. My question concerns ultimate stretch, most everytime I say the mantra at the end I start crying, I feel a sadness without actually being sad, if that makes sense. What I would like to know is why would I cry for this mantra and not others. Its a little scary to feel so emotional by saying words, especially since I practice alone. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for writing. What you describe is actually a very common occurrence among spiritual practitioners. Sometimes we encounter a meditative or devotional practice which resonates deep inside us on a level of which we are not normally aware. When something resonates with our soul it's like meeting a dear friend who has been away for a very long time. The mantra on Ultimate Stretch Workout   relates to Guru Ram Das who was 4th in a lineage of 10 Sikh Masters. He lived in the 1400's and is considered the Patron Saint of Kundalini Yoga. The vibration of this mantra is for miracles of healing and grace and for peace on earth. (Please note that in the Kundalini Yoga tradition, when using mantras such as this, we are not calling on a person or personality, but are tuning ourselves to the frequency of the Godlike attributes certain Saints expressed in their lives.)

Dosha Love KY

I have almost all your videos and have been using them for years. Recently, an Ayurvedic practitioner told me my dosha type is pitta/vata and my dosha imbalance is pitta/vata as well. He told me that I shouldn't do Kundalini yoga because it would increase my vata problem. I was told it was like stirring up an already "fiery" energy. I definitely have problems with temper, anxiety, and fearfulness but I love Kundalini yoga. Do you agree with what I was told? If so, are there any Kundalini options better suited to me? I would really appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks!

Thanks for writing. With all due respect to your Ayurvedic practitioner, we feel that what you were told regarding your doshas was misinformed and inaccurate.
Sometimes people erroneously think of Kundalini Yoga as exercises with fast movements and lots of Breath of Fire. In fact, Kundalini Yoga is everything, breath, posture, movement, rhythm, flow: it's what works!  Every technique is self regulating and automatically brings balance to where an imbalance exists. I, Ana, am also a vata/pitta and if I am not careful I can be high-strung and have insomnia etc. Kundalini Yoga has been the only thing that has worked consistently to bring me into balance.

We suggest that you vary your workout through our different DVDs to get a wide range of the techniques. Also, be sure and make time for the meditations and consider extending the times for the practice of the meditations to 11-31 minutes or more. Please let us know how you do!

2 QUESTIONS REGARDING MY YOGA PRACTICE

Hello, I have two questions regarding my yoga practice. Firstly, I sometimes find it difficult to concentrate at my third eye point and end up having headaches afterwards. Secondly, I am doing the Sa-Ta-Na-Ma meditation (on our
Yoga Quick Fixes and Yoga House CallDVD's) and find it difficult to make the "L" that is suggested through the crown and out through the third eye. I would appreciate any of your help! Thank you.

Thanks for writing. Please note that focusing up towards the Third Eye does get easier over time. Be sure you are keeping your forehead relaxed while trying to gaze towards this point. For now, we suggest that you modify by having your eyes barely open, looking down and in towards the tip of the nose (but not to the extent where it is uncomfortable).

Regarding the "L" form: Don't concentrate too intently on trying to do this. Just feel each syllable coming in through the top of the head and exiting out the brow. It's sort of a passive visualization in the back of your awareness. This is said to forge an etheric connection (the "Golden Cord") between the pineal and pituitary glands and to enhance intuition and creativity.

ana22MEDITATION OF THE MONTH

Healthy, Happy, Holy Meditation -
Interlace your fingers and extend your arms straight up, palms facing the ceiling. Inhale deeply and chant: Healthy am I, Happy am I, Holy am I, three times per breath. Continue for up to 11 min.

Don't let the simplistic nature of the meditation fool you. This affirmation is, of course, not grammatically correct, but does correspond to proper syntax in the language of the soul, called Naad. Sacred scriptures in their original form have the capacity to invoke, when read aloud, the experience they are describing. This is the science of vibratory effect. The initial sounds of these words: He, Ha, Ho, all relate to the Throat Chakra, which helps you make concepts concrete. Do this meditation with devotion and make these words a self-fulfilling prophecy.

We hope you have an inspiring, joyful, January!!

All Best,
Ana Brett & Ravi Singh
