Ideas & Tips

Friend
I hope the lazy days of summer have been
enjoyable for everyone so far! We are
enjoying them too, so the usual monthly Ideas &
Tips is being combined into a June and July
issue. We will cover summer vacation photo
ideas, special year-round memories and
alternate painting techniques available.
Look for news soon of an affiliate site link
to photos from wonderfully scenic locations
around the world that will be very
reasonably priced for purchase in any
of our regular (or custom) sizes, as either a
painting or a photograph on canvas. You'll be
able to get the art you want in the
exact
size you want, delivered to your

Vary the vistas |
|
|
|
|
Whether your vacation destinations are
seashore, mountains or somewhere in-between,
don't forget the idea of variations. If
wonderful panoramic vistas are the most
dramatic thing you see, look closer. In other
words, vary and balance your shot selections
with some very close-up shots for additional
information and interest. This basic design
principle will help break up the monotony of
too much of the same thing. Some with people,
some without, some close, medium and far
range shots will insure enough visual
interest to keep Uncle Frank awake after he
asks to see your shots.
An unexpected benefit of having this kind of
variety of shots from our recent trip to
Alaska was a series of extreme close-ups of
striated rocks (center, above) with faint
native pictographs that my wife Trish wants
made into large canvases that for all intents and
purposes will look like a Post-Modern or
Lyrical Abstract work of art.

This is dedicated to the one(s) I love.... |
|
|
|
|
Seasonal vacations aside...there are some
pictures that take on a special meaning
year-round because they feature people who
hold a place of honor in your life or
memories. Whether the photo is recent or dug
out of the bottom of a shoebox, these are the
ones especially suited to 'make your memories
into art'.
The examples shown are of the two patriarchs
of our families. My dad in the last photo
taken with our granddaughter before he passed
away this past April and my wife's father in a
photo from his wedding day over 60 years ago.
He passed away just six weeks later.

Start with color, then go sepia, pop or black & white. |
|
|
|
|
A shot may look great as a color shot, but
consider that it may look even more artistic
as a sepia tone, as pop art or as a black &
white. It depends on the mood you want to
evoke as well as the spot you are planning to
place the art.
Remember that Your Photo To Painting still
offers free,
no-obligation proofs! If you
want to see how a photo would look with an
alternative color treatment, just upload it
and send us a note about what type of color
variation you would like to see. We will be
happy to assist you in creating that
spectacular piece of art for your home or
office, or to give as a gift.
