CRO'S of the Month
Chief Referral Officers are Becky's employees that earn Bonuses by referring new clients.   EARN A $20 CASH BONUS on your next paycheck for each referral that uses Becky's and be a CRO next month!

This is a win-win situation on so many levels.  When you bring in new clients you receive $20 and if those clients are near your other clients you don't have to drive as far to service clients!  Remember the tips of dropping off your referral materials when you are out on your walks and in the neighborhood shops of places where you work and live.  Just a few new clients can significantly reduce your drive time and mileage - Oh yeah and earn you $20 each!  :)

Hopefully you saw the Becky's Groupon in early June - It has generated a lot of new clients to keep everyone busy this summer!

In June the Customer Service team added 105 new clients, 27 directly from the Groupon - In May it was only 64 new clients (our monthly average is 61).  We do however usually have a peak in June - in June 2010 we added 91 new clients - but last month's 105 is still a 14% increase over 2010.

"The Scoop" from Becky

Thank you to all of our Pet Care Professionals who filled out the June Employee Survey. We will use the results to try to improve our work supporting you and to try to make this a great place to work for everyone. While the survey did show us some areas for improvement, it is good to note that 97.5% of our employees who answered the survey agree that Becky's Pet Care is a good place to work. Additionally, 90% of the respondents are satisfied with their overall job satisfaction and 95% of the respondents feel that communication from the office is adequate or better than adequate. I will be sharing more results from the survey next month as well as steps that we are putting in place to make improvements. We will be sending these surveys on a quarterly basis to see how we are doing so please take the time to respond.

Another thank you for our great staff! Due to the really excellent care of our Pet Care Professionals, our company continues to grow. There are new competitors opening up in Northern Virginia every month, but our company continues to get calls and new clients every day because of the quality service that we provide - each and every day! As our reputation grows so does our business. Each and every one of you get a big "CONGRATULATIONS!" for doing such an outstanding job.

Get ready to roll. July is going to be even busier. And remember, BPC staff ROCKS!

Happy Summer!

Human Resources Updates

WINNER OF THE HANDBOOK CONTEST FOR A $25 GAS CARD

Congratulations Jackie Carpenter! Jackie is the winner of the $25 gas card for the June Handbook Contest.  She was one of many who correctly answered "F" as the correct answer of the 7 statements about what can happen if your clients' profiles are not complete and accurate.  While answer "e", Beth will hunt you down, may seem like it is true if you've ever NOT had your profiles complete and accurate, that answer is not an official policy of Becky's Pet Care. But you will hear from Beth or somebody else if you profiles are not complete and accurate.

With the summer here, there's no time like the present to make sure all your profiles are complete & accurate so a substitute will be able to provide your same excellent service with the minimum of disruption to the pets and the clients, not to mention the office staff.

This month's Handbook Contest question is at the bottom of the Human Resources Updates section.

Summer Picnic Fun on June 12

Employees who attended the company picnic on Sunday June 12 at Lake Accotink Park not only had a fun time with great food catered by Red Hot & Blue, but received some new company t-shirts.  A new tank top and neat new dog walker logo short sleeve t-shirt were available.  Both come in a choice of colors. Employees were able to bring people and dog guests as this park is a very dog friendly park.  This was a great time and employees got to meet and know co-workers as more than just a name they see in Bluewave.

If you didn't attend the picnic, you have a second chance to get one of these new t-shirts or one of any one item of the Becky's Gear.  Pick up your paycheck at the office on Thursday July 7 and enjoy the Appreciation Breakfast and get one items of Becky's Gear. Or you can purchase t-shirts at cost.  See "Becky's Gear" in this newsletter.

July's Question:

It's summer time, its holiday and vacation time.  Not just for our clients, but many of our employees have been taking time off from work.  The company wants to be able to give employees time off from work.  But unfortunately this is the same time many of our clients are away and need our company's service.  Do you know what the company's policies and procedures are regarding taking time off work?

Which of the following statements is accurate concerning time off work (PTO or LWOP)?

a) Pet Care Professional are expected to be available to work on company -recognized holidays if needed.

b) Each employee is an important part of the BCP organization, and every absence affects our ability to serve our clients.

c) If you plan to take leave or to be unavailable a time you are normally available, you must submit a request for time off at least 2 weeks in advance.  Requests for leave will be granted on a first come, first serve basis.

d) If an employee takes leave after being denied permission and without finding an adequate substitute, s/he will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

e) Time off (either Paid Time off , PTO, or Leave without Pay, LWOP) should be entered into Bluewave by clicking on the DNS (Do Not Schedule-formally called VACation) in Bluewave.

f)  Time off work and last minute requests for time off work can be included in interim and annual review

g) All of the above are correct

Event4Employee of the Month
Beth Monroney

Everybody working for Becky's Pet Care knows Beth. She is a full-time
Customer Care Rep in the office. That is not the reason Beth was
selected to be employee of the Month. Outside of her work in the
office, she does more pet sitting than many employees. In the past
three months, she did pet sitting for more one or more clients almost
everyday. She only had about 5 days each month that she didn't do at
least one pet sit. She many times will accept assignments to
substitute for other employees who are on leave from work. She is a
team player in the office and for Becky's Pet Care. She really cares
for the pets, clients, and employees. Also her client profiles are
always complete and accurate. :) Congratulations Beth on being our
Employee of the Month for June. Thanks for all your hard work.
