Dog Days of Summer

The lazy 'dog days' of Summer! Lounging by the pool or on the beach with a cold drink,  the smell of suntan lotion in the air... We made it through the Winter blahs! Now we are ready for the  beach, the BBQ, parties and vacation.  Summertime is when most of us take some time to get away. When you are planning your getaway, be sure to make your pet sitting reservations. And don't forget, July 4th is also just around the corner.

Book your reservations for summer vacation before your favorite pet sitter is full! We expect to be very busy this summer and ask that you give as much notice as possible before scheduling service so we may better accommodate your pet sitting needs.

Take Your Dog To Work Tips

Need some assistance at the copy machine? Feeling lonely at lunchtime? Bring your dog to work!  On Friday, June 24th

workers are encouraged to celebrate Pet Sitters International's Take Your Dog to Work Day. First celebrated in 1999, PSI created this event to promote the unbreakable bond between humans and canines and to advocate doggy adoption from animal shelters, breed rescues, and humane societies. Thousands of businesses will welcome employees and their four-legged assistants to "wag and work" on this special day, so join the club!

3 Tips for a Great Day:
1.  Plan ahead:  Talk to your boss or HR and think about where you'll take your dog for a walk and where he'll eat.
2.  Prepare: Bring along a feeding supplies, leash, long-lasting chew toys (try these Bully Sticks: Flint River Ranch) and clean-up supplies in case of an accident
3.  Quick Exit:  Be prepared to leave or have someone pick up your dog in case there is a conflict.

There are many more tips on PSI's website HERE, review it for additional details on preparing to make sure TYDTWD is a great day for everyone.

  We Value Your Business
gasprices

Once again, the cost of gasoline is reaching record highs. We are all feeling the pain of this phenomenon in many different ways and the cost of nearly everything is rising. You may or may not know that pet sitters are compensated for the time spent with the pets in their care but not for the time and costs to get to those pets. Our wonderful staff is reaching deeper into their own pockets to get to their assignments and provide care for your pets. We would like to ask you to consider this when you are deciding upon a gratuity for your Pet Care Professional. You may add a gratuity by:

1.       Asking a Customer Care Specialist in the office to add it to your invoice. This will then be charged to your credit card when we process your payment.

2.       Adding it to your check when you mail in your payment.

3.       Leaving a gratuity in your home clearly marked for your Pet Care Professional to pick up when they come to provide care for your pets. Our employees will not take anything unless it is obviously and clearly marked for them.

Please note that any payments made through the office will be promptly paid 100% to the pet care provider and will show up on your invoice. Thank you for your loyalty to our company. We love caring for your pets and truly value your business!

 Summer Safety

Summer is here and we will be spending more time with our pets outside. With the summer heat and humidity, comes dangers that can be harmful to your pet. Here are some tips in keeping our furry friends safe this summer!

Beach Fun... The saltwater is not healthy for your pet to drink and unless your pet has some shade, the hot sun and sand could be hazardous!

Don't leave your pet alone in the car... temperatures can reach 120 within an half hour.  Pets left in hot cars  can suffer from heat exhaustion, heat stroke, brain damage, and can even die.

Heart-worm disease... which is transmitted by mosquitoes, can be fatal in both dogs and cats. Another summertime threat is fleas and ticks. Use only flea and tick treatments recommended by your veterinarian.

Plant and garden fertilizers can be deadly... We spend more time making our yard and garden pretty in the summer but remember that a lot of plant food, fertilizers, and insecticides can be fatal if your pet ingests them.

July 4th fireworks... are beautiful to watch but remember a dog's hearing is more acute than ours. Some animals get nervous and try to run away from the sound. Be aware of your dog's sensitive ears and keep them inside the house so they can feel safe.

Water safety... Now that the pools are open, don't leave your pet alone near a pool. Not all dogs are good swimmers. Try to rinse your dog off after he swims in a chlorinated pool and try not to let him drink the pool water. It has chemicals that can bother their tummies!
