"The Scoop" from Becky
 | | Patricia |
The busy season is here and we are all gearing up. As we all know, "gearing up" for the busy season also means "gassing up" the car. But with the cost of fuel these days, who wants to do that? Gas prices have gotten really crazy and we need to work together to come up with solutions. To get you started, here are a few gas saving tips from FuelEconomy.gov that I want to share:
· Drive sensibly (not aggressively)
· Observe the speed limit
· Avoid excessive idling
· Use cruise control on the highway
· Keep your car in shape
· Plan and combine trips
If you have other gas saving tips to share with your fellow pet sitters, please send them to Emily and she will post them on Bluewave for everyone.
I would also like to give a "Thumbs Up" to Patricia Hesse and her scooter. This is a great way to get the most "gas" for your buck!
Happy Pet Sitting!
Becky

Human Resources Updates
|

WELCOME Kelli Jewell. Kelli joined the office staff in April as the full-time Receptionist/Office Assistant. Kelli recently moved to the area from Jacksonville, Florida. Her work experience includes working with a veterinarian practice. She has two dogs. In her short time here, she has shared her knowledge to help solve an unusual Pet Care Professional problem. Next time you're in the office during the week, stop by and say hello to Kelli.
WINNER OF THE HANDBOOK CONTEST FOR A $25 GAS CARD
Unfortunately, we are not able to announce a winner for the April Handbook Contest question. Due to a technical problem, all email replies with answers to last month's question were lost. Therefore, we will re-run last month's question as this month's question. All employees who sent replies last month please resend your replies to the question this month.
This month's Handbook Contest question is at the bottom of the Human Resources Updates section.

This is a 4 hour class. Please bring your own soda or coffee to drink. Water will be available along with candy to snack on. If you want a different snack, please feel free to bring it. WIN A $25 GAS CARD
Monthly Handbook Contest
All Pet Care Professionals are responsible for knowing and following the Pet Care Procedures Manual and the Employee Handbook. Here's a contest to help learn the policies and procedures. Answer the question correctly and be entered to win a $25 gas card. Email your answer to Johna. All correct responses received by 5 pm Thursday May 13 will be entered in a drawing to win. Employees who work full-time in the office are not eligible to win. Send the correct answer or answers to this question.
April/May's Question:
Which of the following statements is incorrect about BPC General Procedures for Visits?
a) Keep a printed copy of the current client profile in your binder at all times.
b) Leave a BPC note checklist only at the last visit for the client
c) Acknowledge any messages left to you by management within 24 hours.
d) If a BPC note checklist is not available, write a note on any available piece of paper. If you do not leave a note at every visit, you will not be paid for the visit.
e) No less than 3 days before a service begins, make a Courtesy Call to the client to confirm your visits. Confirm the specific dates of service, emergency contact information, and instructions for pet care. (If this is a last minute assignment, make a courtesy Call to the client as soon as you receive the assignment.)

PET CARE: NEWS YOU CAN USE
We did not receive any responses to our request for feedback from last month's newsletter. We are still having issues with policies such as making courtesy calls, keeping profiles updated, and checking off visits by 10 am and we are looking for ways to improve them. Within the last month, we had five separate incidents as the result of profiles not being updated and several instances of sitters not checking their visits off before 10 am. We would really appreciate your thoughts on how we can make these policies better and avoid similar problems in the future. Please email your suggestions to Theresa@beckyspetcare.com. Thank you!

Without the option to have someone take him out in the afternoon, I don't know that we would have been able to adopt him into our lives." -Nicole, Daryn, & "Bronx" Nenna
Susan Whiteside - "Susan did a fine job taking care of Yvonne and Cheryl. They'll be seeing her again real soon. Thanks!" -Lisa Veitch
