National Pet Week!
Celebrate With Your Pet!
"Save a Life-Adopt a Pet" is the message
for National Pet Week 2011, May 1-7
National Pet Week was created to help foster responsible pet ownership, recognize the human-animal bond, and increase public awareness of veterinary medicine. Ever year the AVMA holds a writing and poster contest to help promote this week. The winning poem and poster is below.
Save a Life, Adopt a Pet.

Trust me on this, you won't regret.
Take me home, give me a name,
anything you choose-Bob, Jack, or Jane.
Being caring, active, friendly, and lovable
are the characteristics that come with a pet.
Small, furry, hairless, or tall-at an animal shelter
you might just fall in love with them all.
Dogs, cats, rabbits, and fish
Pet me, love me, keep food in my dish.
I can be your very best friend
Playing and loving 'til the end.
So save a life, adopt a pet.
Trust me on this, you won't regret.
