Peaches
Peaches - Calico Spayed Female HSFC Fairfax Peaches is the prettiest thing to ever come from a dumpster! She was found outside the Humane Society's door eating scraps from the restaurant next door. She is adjusting slowly to being an indoor cat, so someone with some patience would be a good owner for her.

Thank you for 12 Amazing Years!
I can't believe that on November 2, it will be 12 years since my love for pets prompted me to start Becky's Pet Care. Time has gone so quickly. It seems not long ago that I was drafting a business plan in my basement. Along the way, Becky's Pet Care moved out of the basement and into office space in Alexandria, modified and improved procedures and back-up plans, and grown to over 60 Pet Care Professionals! Through it all, our intense commitment to providing the highest quality pet care is one thing that hasn't changed.
Thank you to all of our loyal clients who entrust your family pets with us - and to all of the staff who continue to provide the best quality pet care. You are what makes this business the success that it is - and I thank you. I am looking forward to continuing our wonderful relationship and providing the best in pet care for your pets.
Sincerely,
Becky

The holiday season is here! Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Keep in mind that the holidays are the busiest time of year for your pet sitter. When planning your holiday trips, please remember to make plans for your furry family members, too. We want to make sure that your favorite pet sitter is available for your pets while you are enjoying family and friends this holiday season. Please remember to book service at least two weeks in advance during the holiday season to avoid any last minute reservation fees. You can make your reservation online or by calling our office 7 days a week. Give us a call or visit our website!

November is Pet Cancer Awareness!
Cancer is the No. 1 disease-related killer of dogs and cats. Fortunately, early detection and treatment of cancer in pets can prolong life and increase chances of survival. Here are some early warning signs of cancer:
- Abnormal swellings that persist or continue to grow
- Sores that do not heal.
- Weight loss.
- Loss of appetite.
- Bleeding or dishcarge from any opening on the body.
- Offensive odor.
- Difficluity eating or swallowing.
- Hesitation to exercise or loss of energy.
Early detection is critical in the fight against cancer! So Check your pets regularly, provide them with the best foods, water and environment you can, take your pet in for regular veterinary check ups, and help keep them healthy and happy!

Thanksgiving Safety
|
Thanksgiving is a holiday that brings friends and family together to share a good meal, conversation and laughter. With the smell of turkey slowly roasting in your oven, the smell of pumpkin pie....it all smells so good. And your pet thinks so too! Along with all the good times, Thanksgiving can bring heath hazards to your pets.
Here are some safety reminders: Don't give turkey bones to pets. Turkey bones and other bird bones are hollow, which makes them likely to splinter. This can cause tears in an animal's esophagus, stomach or intestines. If you decide to feed your pet a little nibble of turkey, make sure it's boneless and well-cooked. Don't offer her raw or undercooked turkey, which may contain salmonella bacteria. Certain spices and herbs can be harmful to pets as well. Sage and other herbs contain essential oils which can cause gastric distress and central nervous system depression if consumed in large quantities. So be on the safe side and do not give your pets stuffing.
Be careful about leaving chocolate candies out (or kids dropping candy on the floor). Chocolate can cause illness and death in dogs. In addition, dogs shouldn't be fed grapes, raisins, onions, alcohol or anything with caffeine.
DID YOU KNOW? Pumpkin is a good source of fiber to help with constipation. (Any dog with diarrhea does not need added fiber to their diet.) Make sure it is canned pumpkin. DO NOT use pumpkin pie filling, because it is loaded with sugar and spices which is not good for dogs. You need to buy the plain pumpkin pie filling - no spices added. You can pour it into an old ice cube tray and freeze it. Then just pop out the pumpkin cubes as needed. Yummy treats!
