LA-COMMUNITY.ORG

An Open Letter to Our Community

From the Grama Family

There is powerful meaning

to the simple words "thank you."

For us, behind this term lie layers of meaning and deep, deep appreciation to the Los Angeles community. The passing of Shimi aroused an unbelievable outpouring of support, and, as we sat in mourning, you- our community- came forth with love and concern. You held our hands through a time of unbearable pain and helped us shoulder the weight of this heavy suffering. There are very few things that comfort mourners, one of them is the friendship we have been shown.

We look forward to sharing simchos.

 Thank you.

Official Eruv Update

friday 11/4 10:44am

Crews are working on the fencing at the moment.

While it appears there is a good chance the work will be completed in time,

THERE WILL BE A 2PM UPDATE BROADCAST.

IN THE MEANTIME DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING!

MAKE SURE YOU RECEIVE THE ERUV BROADCAST,
OR CALL

1877ERUV INFO

BEFORE SHABBOS TO CHECK.

Important note:

THE THOUSANDS OF FEET OF FENCING, POLES AND LINES; CONSTRUCTION CREWS; TRUCK MAINTENANCE, REPAIRS AND INSURANCE; AND HOURS OF CHECKING AND RE-CHECKING AS CONSTRUCTION ROLLS ALONG THE 405 COSTS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. BECAUSE OF THE ONGOING 405 CONSTRUCTION, THE ERUV BUDGET HAS DOUBLED. IT'S NOT CARMAGEDON - IT'S A WEEKLY ERUV-MAGEDON! AND IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS, DARINING THE ERUV RESOURCES. WITHOUT EVERY SHUL PARTICIPATING AND EVERY PERSON PARTICIPATING IN MAINTAINING THE LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY ERUV, THERE WILL NOT BE AN ERUV. DID  YOU ENJOY LAST SHABBOS WITHOUT AN ERUV???!!! PLEASE! DO YOUR PART TO ENSURE THE CONTINUED OPERATION OF YOUR COMMUNITY ERUV.

Sincerely,

L.A.C.E.

HillyGram.comis a FREE posting web based service for the community that we believe has incredibly beautiful clean design.

The combination of announcements, news, and links, results in a really remarkable website.  Our mission is to provide a safe and FREE place for the community to POST and VIEW current and relevant information that enriches our neighbors.

We are members of the Pico Robertson Community and we believe that there continues to be a need for centralized information dissemination.  A single place for EVERYONE to post ads or information or news quickly, easily and safely at no charge,

in order to accomplish this we have created two websites:

1. www.hillygram.com

(must go to the site and register in order to receive email updates, take less than 10 seconds!)

2. www.jewishcommunityclassifieds.com

Both sites are FREE to everyone!

SAFETY

We have been to ALL the classes on internet safety and are very sensitive to the problems with the internet, websites and "surfing" the net in general.  While nothing is completely secure we have taken serious measures to help insure the community has a pleasant experience on our sites. On both sites while we allow anyone to register and POST and ad, NO AD GOES LIVE WITHOUT A PERSONAL READING AND APPROVAL FROM A MEMBER OF OUR STAFF.

Our STAFF by the way is comprised of volunteers that read, view and approve ads before they press the APPROVED GO LIVE BUTTON.

Beginning immediately

hilly@ la-community.org

or as most locals know it as, the daily HILLY'S EMAIL, has a new format and website.

The old site la-community.org is no longer being updated, the new site taking its place is

www.Hillygram.com

the new FREE website that lists in categories: events, classes, announcements, banquets, fund raising events,  shivas, levayas, etc...for the Jewish community.

It is now quicker and easier than ever to search, find and view exactly what you are looking for.

The new formant also allows the community to place their own listings with complete control and access to edit modify and change information as needed.

Furthermore, all listing will automatically be removed by the system when the event is over keeping the site free from old and untimely information.

Anyone wishing to receive weekly emails with important updates and timely community news and  information can register on the site and request to be added to email list.

To the Hillygram subscribers

As many of you are aware that I have given over the task and responsibility of the Hillygram to Moshe Sarto.

I am honored to have served the community for so many years, and seen first hand the Chesed that the community has shown and done since its inception.

While I didn't have the time to run it, I had to steal the seconds in order to keep it

going. Our Community has grown, and I felt that in order it to be a reliable vehicle in getting vital important updates out to you, I will have to give it to a more professional individual in that field.

I began searching and communicating with individuals who were interested.

The criteria were, the individual had to be dedicated to Community needs, and to continue the same fairness towards all aspects of our Orthodox spectrum.

Thus creating and promoting Achdus within our Community.

I want to thank my wife Miriam, who gave up her limited time she had with me, in order that I could keep the HillyGram going all the years.

I humbly ask from you the reader the following:

This is not an easy task; it takes time effort and lots of dedication. While many of you have always written and thanked for the service that was provided, this was very nice to hear. I also had plenty of complaints, misunderstandings and outright hostility, which I chalked up to the price to pay to get into Gan Eden.

However, I beg of you all, please be patient and understanding, people by nature don't like change, and usually don't give it a chance.

This change is for the better good of the Community. It's impossible to satisfy all, but Moshe is a very kind and generous individual.

He will try to help to navigate you to your new source of information.

Please take the time, read the main page, click on the links where it gives you exact info

In how to navigate the website.

If you won't try, and put a little effort to familiarize yourself, how do you expect to get your ads and info posted?

The old lazy way of sending it to hilly, is over!!!!

Ha! I mamesh was waiting to say that!!!!

Yes, the old lazy way, by texting, leaving voice mail, emailing and not even checking your own typo and mistakes.

Wishing you all a good Vinter, and please keep your subscription to the old HillyGram

Because in event of emergency or special circumstances it may be used to alert the community...
