Official Eruv Update

the current status is as follows:

Due to the construction on the 405 there is a gap 4,000 feet long.

To repair this wall of the eruv, new fencing must be erected.

Where there are peculiar bends, a doorway must be erected.

Tonight, wed night, our crew is out putting up these doorways. They will work until it's done, and they have day jobs.

The fencing material we hope will be delivered tomorrow morning and crews will start putting up 4,000 feet of fence immediately.

If all goes well there is a fair chance the eruv will be repaired in time for shabbos.

However it is too early to guarantee anything yet. 30% chance it may not be up. DO NOT CARRY WITHOUT CHECKING IF THE ERUV IS UP. IT MAY NOT BE UP  THIS SHABBOS.

Important note:

THE THOUSANDS OF FEET OF FENCING, POLES AND LINES; CONSTRUCTION CREWS; TRUCK MAINTENANCE, REPAIRS AND INSURANCE; AND HOURS OF CHECKING AND RE-CHECKING AS CONSTRUCTION ROLLS ALONG THE 405 COSTS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. BECAUSE OF THE ONGOING 405 CONSTRUCTION, THE ERUV BUDGET HAS DOUBLED. IT'S NOT CARMAGEDON - IT'S A WEEKLY ERUV-MAGEDON! AND IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS, DARINING THE ERUV RESOURCES. WITHOUT EVERY SHUL PARTICIPATING AND EVERY PERSON PARTICIPATING IN MAINTAINING THE LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY ERUV, THERE WILL NOT BE AN ERUV. DID  YOU ENJOY LAST SHABBOS WITHOUT AN ERUV???!!! PLEASE! DO YOUR PART TO ENSURE THE CONTINUED OPERATION OF YOUR COMMUNITY ERUV.

Sincerely,

L.A.C.E.

To the Hillygram subscribers

As many of you are aware that I have given over the task and responsibility of the Hillygram to Moshe Sarto.

I am honored to have served the community for so many years, and seen first hand the Chesed that the community has shown and done since its inception.

While I didn't have the time to run it, I had to steal the seconds in order to keep it

going. Our Community has grown, and I felt that in order it to be a reliable vehicle in getting vital important updates out to you, I will have to give it to a more professional individual in that field.

I began searching and communicating with individuals who were interested.

The criteria were, the individual had to be dedicated to Community needs, and to continue the same fairness towards all aspects of our Orthodox spectrum.

Thus creating and promoting Achdus within our Community.

I want to thank my wife Miriam, who gave up her limited time she had with me, in order that I could keep the HillyGram going all the years.

I humbly ask from you the reader the following:

This is not an easy task; it takes time effort and lots of dedication. While many of you have always written and thanked for the service that was provided, this was very nice to hear. I also had plenty of complaints, misunderstandings and outright hostility, which I chalked up to the price to pay to get into Gan Eden.

However, I beg of you all, please be patient and understanding, people by nature don't like change, and usually don't give it a chance.

This change is for the better good of the Community. It's impossible to satisfy all, but Moshe is a very kind and generous individual.

He will try to help to navigate you to your new source of information.

Please take the time, read the main page, click on the links where it gives you exact info

In how to navigate the website.

If you won't try, and put a little effort to familiarize yourself, how do you expect to get your ads and info posted?

The old lazy way of sending it to hilly, is over!!!!

Ha! I mamesh was waiting to say that!!!!

Yes, the old lazy way, by texting, leaving voice mail, emailing and not even checking your own typo and mistakes.

Wishing you all a good Vinter, and please keep your subscription to the old HillyGram

Because in event of emergency or special circumstances it may be used to alert the community...
