Dear Friends, I hope you all had a wonderful Purim. It was one of the more painful ones, as we made it a point to have the Fogels and the tragedy in Itamar present in our heart and mind. To this end, I want to make you aware of Seth Mandell, the founder of the Koby Mandell foundation, will be speaking in Los Angeles on behalf of families who have lost loved ones in acts of terrorism. Especially after the recent terror in Itamar, I often wonder how parents and children can go on. Please come help this amazing cause that does just that, helps families go on. My dear Parents Elie and Felice Marciano have graciously offered to host Seth, the father of Koby Tuesday March 29th at 8 pm 345 N Highland Ave. Come, bring a friend and hear his amazing story. Below is a bit about the organization. Please let us know if you can attend. Thank you in advance. Babette (Marciano) Greenwald The Koby Mandell Foundation http://www.kobymandell.org/ The Koby Mandell Foundation runs therapeutic healing programs for those who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother, or child to terrorism. Overnight camps and retreats provide individuals and families with the tools to translate the pain and suffering of tragedy into positive personal growth, deeper interpersonal relationships, and active community leadership. Programs employ affirmative life experiences, relevant informal education, and emotional and psychological support in formal group discussions and informal interactions. All of our programs are provided free of charge, and combine formal, informal, and recreational therapeutic techniques to foster an environment of emotional support. Group therapy activities include music, art, and sports therapy. Participants draw strength from each other and their shared experiences, creating long-lasting bonds of friendship and a community of survivors. Our innovative methods for dealing with grief are based on the personal experiences of Rabbi Seth and Sherri Mandell, who established the Foundation in 2001 after their 13-year-old son Koby was murdered by terrorists while hiking near their home in Israel. Their first hand knowledge of loss and bereavement engenders a high level of trust from the affected families. who would not otherwise seek help. . In addition to helping victims of terror, the foundation is focused on helping the over 100 orphans created by the horrible fire in the north of Israel this year. I hope that you will come to help support the incredible work that the Koby Mandell Foundation is doing in Israel and to find inspiration in the words of this extraordinary person."
